You go girl! Meagan stay on top of this hospital and don't let their excuses (HIPAA) sway you from your ultimate goal. They made a huge mistake by not reporting their own "adverse event and unusual occurances". Remember, the squeaky wheel always gets its oil!

Another frivolous law suit in the making. What really happened? Is this person telling the truth, or is she and the Whittier Daily News orchestrating a deep pockets law suit. If the truth were known, the other mother was the one who discovered the mistake. The other mother’s baby weighed in at almost nine-pounds and the law-suit moms baby was a little five pound baby. I guess I will end my comments with don’t believe anything you hear and only half of what you see when it comes to law-suit times.

Maegan has said that she doesn't want money. She only wants to to have her son tested to make sure that he doesn't get any diseases from the other mother in case he was breast fed. The only reason she got a lawyer was because the hospital wasn't being cooperative. I say good for her!! I know I would be doing the same thing if that had happened to me and my son. How could something like this have happened? Especially now in days where the baby and the mother have ID bracelets to prevent this type of thing from happening. Careless employees not paying attention to what they are doing.

I can tell you that no attorney takes a case or write a letter without having the thought of suing in their mind. This woman is setting herself up to sue the hospital by making her son out to be in danger of an illness that does not exist.

What does this women think?? that latinos all carry diseases, She keeps thinking her son is in danger of an illness, if the other women had a disease she would not have been able to feel her child. another one wanting to get rich, besides the other women discovered the switch not megan however latinos are not always after money, as long as things were corrected, and they were before the babies left the hospital. If money is to be made then share it with the other mother, I think Megan is just afraid because the lady was latin. Shame on you

What a disgrace for Whittier Hospital and their Staff. They should provide Maegan with the health records of the other mother. After all the lies from the Hospital how can we believe their "statements". Their delayed responses really make you wonder about their honesty. The health of their patient (Milos) should be their top concern. Why put this newborn through the pain of 5 years of testing and the mother through the agony of not knowing. When a women delivers her baby at a hospital we put a lot of trust in the people that work there. What a scary thing to happen to a Mother that had an emergency c-section and was in so much pain that she was put on Morphine. I hope you get all the answers you need.

You should be bonding and enjoying your baby rather than posting on this site.
You have been given the gift of life but instead of enjoying it you are consumed with worry, when the hospital has already stated to the public there was no breast feeding done. If the hospital made a public statement it must be true because to go public with that without it being true is a crime.

Hey any mom in this situation would want to get down to the bottom of the situation. Yes she should be enjoying her baby, but if one of my babies were switched, even temporarily i would want to know if he was fed, what formula since all newborns do not all eat the same and maybe she will satisfied if the other mother would just let her know that the baby was asleep the whole time I would be going crazy also. Law suites are not all about money, sometimes hospitals need to be accountable for there mistakes. If this was your precious baby you would want to get to the bottom of it also. My prayers go out to you Maegan that you find the peace and comfort that your baby boy will be fine. Don't let this stress you out that is the last thing a new mom needs, your baby is a gift from God and He will protect him.

Don't let the morons get to you. You may be right, they might just work for the hospital. And, you are right about breast milk carrying illnesses. Hope your little one will be okay!!!

It's kind of hard to not comment on here, when morons like you have such derogatory remarks to make. Oh yea, the baby didn't get any breast milk, because, THE HOSPITAL SAID SO!! Use some common sense!! They mixed up two baby's!! You think they are going to tell the truth?? Jeez!!

meagan, my thoughts and prayers go out to you, your son and the other woman and her child as well. The negative comments obviously came from employees, especially if they knew the babies weights, and other classified info. By doing what you're doing, you'll be protecting other mothers and future babies born there. There are problems at all hospitals, good drs, bad drs, great nurses, and lazy, and incompetent nurses, also more and more, nurses that can barely speak english. You hang in there, and do the right thing, and that's protecting other mothers and babies, not only born at that facility but others as well. good luck

Keep up your strength and don't let other peoples rude comments rob your joy. I think the Hospital has proved nothing by their statment other than they LIE. They never even reported it to the state. Makes you think they had something to hide from the beginning. I am not a sue happy person....but I think this Mom should be conpensated for all the stress this has added to her life. Keep your chin up girl. You'll get through.

Again another rasist comment, I doubt any of this would have made the news if it had happened in an upper white class neighborhood to two white woman.
With the nursing shortage going on California has no choice but to take nurses from other countries, but you should be happy they are willing to do the work and take care of anyone.

Every day in the US babies are mixed up and switched back without anyone ever knowing, it maybe unpleasant to hear but it does happen especially on busy weekends. Reporting of switching babies is not mandated by the state but only discharging babies to the wrong mom.

Lawsuit waiting to happen! I hope you share your millions with the other mom and her child. Use your money Megan to get a decent education. It bothers me that you are upset because of the other mother's race and the possibilities of diseases that you don't even know about. I want to know how you will reach out the other mom.

Oh my goodness. It's so fascinating to see who so many people take a story and other reader's comments out of context. Apparently, there are readers here who like to go for the kill and assume racism for everything. Obviously many of you here look at things from a racial perspective everyday.

I think "mom for safety" sums it all the best. There will be bad hospitals, drs, and nurses. I used to work at a hospital and I encountered great nurses and lazy nurses. There was also hospital staff that were concerned about the hospital and others who could care less. Regardless, if its a hospital or a corporate company, the administration is what is going to dictate the atmosphere. If Whittier Hospital failed to report this mistake to the state, there is something to say about the administration team who would rather cover up a mistake then inform the state and much less the public. Their press release is also going to spin the best possible side of the story and do as much damage control to make sure they continue to get patients through their doors and remain in a positive light to the public and the state. I am sorry to see that some people on this blog take a press release from the whittier hospital as the exact truth and will not question the entire validity since no one likes to admit their own mistakes.
