I've been on Chantix for 3 weeks, smoke free for 2 weeks. I don't know if it's the nicotine withdrawal, the chantix or a combination of both, but it's put me in a very dark place. I want to hurt people.

Hey USNBMC, Don't get me wrong. I don't wish you any ill will. Only standing to correct you about chantix and crazy. Going crazy isn't the result of no nicotine. It is the result of a nicotine "like" drug with the powers of morohine. Some people can handle morphine others cannot, we all understand no two are alike. We are not that different either. That is why they use lab rats cause they are cheaper and can't complain too much. You may have needed a "stronger" drug to kick your habit. If your choice makes you want to hurt others, besides smoking in their airspace, I do object. Rather strongly in fact!

I know you are not a Pfizer rep. Our government allowing a drug to be used by service individuals with guns is of great concren to me. Has been since I went crazy quitting chantix. Can't you understand, your life choices do effect those closest to you? Why I stay away from those using chantix and feeling crazy. I know they want to hurt SOMETHING!!! They are NOT getting satisfaction for anything chantix doesn't decide to let slip through. It only takes a few days to get off either chantix or nicotine, the physical dependence stops. However long term usuage of any antagonist can cause permanent damage. Nicotine is not an antagonist; chantix IS. If I knew Pfizer, the FDA and the doctor who gave me chantix thought NOT telling me this was a good idea I never would have trusted "them" in the first place. Now like Terri, I don't trust them. I become informed and spread the facts as best I can about chantix, the buzz killer.

Have a nice day! Good health to you too!

Pfizer settled the first case before it went to trial. They tried to delay it but was denied by the judge. What does that tell you? What would have been revealed in court will have to wait a few more months but it will come to light of day!

My daughter took Chantix and quit smoking. After she came off the medication, she abruptly disowned me. Forever. Because she saw me drinking a 1/2 glass of wine.( I have had alcohol problems in the past- but better-) We had probably the closest relationship any mother & daughter could have for 23 years. She has also dropped her entire family- aunts, cousins etc. Blocked all phone calls and email. It has been 9 months now and I am sick.

Andrea I am sorry to read your post. Not sure what to tell you other then she is an adult and will have to do these things herself. I have read where some use this drug for years feeding their brains the lies Pfizer has published and even know they are psychotic when stopping it. Is she still taking chantix?
This happened after she came off Chantix. As of now, she's moved to another state and I havent had contact for almost 1 1/2 years :(

I am taking chantix for the third time to quit and and never has side effects before other than strange vivid dreams. This time around is different. It started the day I increased the dose to 1mg twice daily and my right arm started getting numb and then down my leg. Doctor recommeded I. Stay at the .5mg dose twice daily....I only took half today and its still happening. I have been on it over two weeks and now have this weird sensation that my neck/throat is getting fat....wtf? I am also sooooo constipated I want to cry. Metamucil three times a day isn't quite helping either....I have blisters on my hands and peeling skin. This is so scary.

I have currently been taking chantix for three weeks. The first day it felt like i was in a really good upbeat mood all day. Now after a few weeks i feel like the same person but have a "I don't care about it" attitude; like with work, I realized that i hate my job and have started searching for another one. THE DREAMS on this drug feel so real!!! I haven't had any hallucinations or night mares, just really really vivid dreams. For instance this morning I had to check my phone to see if my dream was real or not, which was about getting a phone call from the job i applied for that I really want. But stopping smoking is worth the reality check.

I had the exact same thing happen and went through all the same procedures only to have the gastroenterologist tell me "Oh, you again, I don't know what to do about you". I figure it's IBS and I was under a lot of stress at the time it first started, though I know that taking Chantix brought it on. Still get it now and then, and it lasts for a couple months with attacks every couple days. I want to try the Chantix again with hopes of ruling that relationship out and attributing it to stress. I liked where Chantix was leading my smoking habit until I started getting the tummy troubles.

Maybe it is the REGLAN in the chantix formulation. It is the reason Pfier's CEO's will be forced to testify at trials.

I am so sorry that you all have had bad experiences with taking Chantix. I have been on it for almost 2 months and have experienced only a mild case of nausea if I do not eat and then take the pill. I have not noticed any change in my behavior or outbursts of anger. I do not know if I am an exception or if some of this stuff you all have experienced will come later. I definietly will keep myself aware.

Been on it for two weeks and the dreams are crazy! I had trouble getting up in the morning for the last three days. I think I'm sleepwalking, the first night my TV woke me up, I know I switched it off before falling asleep. This morning all the lights and electric appliances in the house were switched on and I'm dead tired after 8hours of sleep! I'm thinking of quitting champix.

Chantix has been shown to cause "changes in behavior, hostility, agitation, depressed mood, and suicidal thoughts." Check out http://www.rxwiki.com/chantix for more information.

Be careful where you get information from. Reglan is not contained in chantix. Many of the things that are being claimed by one person on this thread are nearly ludicrous. If you don't have a medical degree, please shut your mouth. Chantix works for me. I have minor aches and pains and no neurological effects. Since our metabolisms are different, yes, chantix may affect you differently. I have a doctorate of pharmacy not a BS in BS like some of these people.

Thank you for your comment. Your point is what I've tried to express. Not all of are the same. If Chantix works, stay with it. Talk to your doctor to help with your problems. I'm smoke free still after 45 plus years and have been now for more than 7 months, and saved over $3,000.00!

The first time I took Chantix I did very well, but started smoking again. I think it was because I really wasn't ready. I am now on it for the second time. It is working much better, cause I really want to quit, but I am having side effects.Intense headaches that last for days, they wake me up at night and nothing helps. I have also become very withdrawn and depressed, I would rather sleep than do anything else. I no longer enjoy the things that I once did. I am going to stop taking them today. I have only been on them a month. I already have depression and am bipolar.
