How did America become so polarized?

Full story: Yahoo!

The election laid bare a dual - and dueling - nation, politically speaking, jaggedly split down the middle on the presidency and torn over much else.

Dear Mr. Bella,
I am from Missouri. i read the article in our paper "It's a 50-50 nation, give or take", which included your comments about Obama, and you didn't understand why there is "such hatred for Obama out there."
Actually, I don't hate him. I can tell you, however, why we don't agree with him. We think he has a lot to learn about the economy, but there are a lot of leaders who fail in that category. The reason that MANY people don't like him--is because he doesn't let people BE WHO THEY ARE. SUre, he is tolerant of homosexuals and other minorities, but he has NO tolerance for CHristians, or people who are pro-life. It is almost as if he detests us. He is trying to force his beliefs on us, and does not think our conscience has any clout. If only he would be open-minded to Christians, and give us the same sympathy as he does the other segments of society, then we would not think he was so bad. And for a leader to tell you that you HAVE to pay for abortion drugs, even if your faith is against that, is WRONG!!! What if I told HIM that--that he had to do something which was against his conscience. He is so pro-choice, pro-planned parenthood--so tunnel-visioned that he can't see that the world is made up of a wide diversity of people. He is tolerant of some--but downright HATEFUL toward others. Just let us believe and practice what our faith dictates, and we won't oppose him so strongly. Don't shove stuff down our throat!!! If someone could tell Mr. Obama that, then perhaps he might be better liked. Christians don't love or hate him because of the economy--they get very mad because of his anti-CHristian beliefs!! If he could overcome that prejudice, he would win a lot more supporters!!!
THsnks for your time!!! ANd God bless you!

I spent the majority of my career working to buy a home and live the American Dream. Recent reports say that Obama has de-valued homes as much as forty percent. That hardly speaks to helping the working man and for me, what else matters more. It is usually our biggest investment and is all most of us have to fall back on during hard times. Taking forty percent of what I have worked for makes me angry and it should you too. Let's do better sir and makes sure you remember the little guy, you know, like your brother who lives in a shack. I am glad you are not my brother, he would at least make sure he got me on my feet if he had that chance, and you do.

How did America become so polarized??

There is a simple Answer...
Talk radio and Fox News.
The daily Rehtoric spewed by these outlets make the left out to be the enemy.
Nothing the left does is legal, or moral, so the right cannot ever agree with them or work with them because they are immoral trash, and compromise would lead to political suicide.
Notice how they turned on Chris Christie when he attempted to work with the President on the behalf of the people of NJ after the storm. How dare he.

The division is intentional. Divide and conquer. The rich have us divided while they take all our money. They have been very successful stealing everything. Those who actually do the work got nothing.

Obama. Never has a president been such a divider. He is by far the worst thing that has happened to this country, and the clueless have no idea or deny the truth.

I suppose you did not even read what she said. She spoke of tolerance and how the president is not tolerant of Christians (which is true)...no one spoke of having a monopoly on anything. Even you aren't Christian you should be concerned how he divides and is intolerant. ANY citizen should be concerned regardless.

polarized ?

look to obamas 4 years of defining 'classes' in the US somewhat like India defines castes. obama has done more to ratchet up hatred than the last 20 presidents, he is doing a bang up job of it too. when russian news orgs call the US prez a 'stalinesque old school communist' that they found out didn't work and abolished years ago, you know 'polarization', eg the politburo and the prole. That's where we are headed and 75% there.

He didn't devalue your home by 40 percent. The dotcom bust was covered up by the Fed and by Bush creating a new bubble, a housing bubble. What did you pay for your house? If you paid, for example,$100K for it and it's worth $100K, then it is worth what you paid for it. If you paid $100K for it, and it is worth $300K today, then inflation created a higher price, that's not the real value of your house.

What happened is when the Fed created the housing bubble they gave banks tons of money to hand out and so the banks gave everyone and anyone a home loan, so the market was flooded with new buyers, which makes the price of property go up. More buyers, more demand, prices go up. Those were fake prices because then those same people defaulted on their home loans. Lots of defaults, home prices come back down, less buyers, prices come back down. Homes will no longer be an investment that goes up due to inflation because home prices are actually based on the income of the people in the area of the home. In other words, during the housing bubble, which all happened when Bush was in office, you had artifically high prices based on higher than normal demand due to giving anyone a loan, so if you had homes selling for $500K in an area that has only mainly minimum wage jobs, that house realistically is worth about 50K, but if everyone is buying due to giving anyone a loan, it will temporarily spike up to $500K for a short period of time and then it all collapses.

People make the mistake of saying that they paid $100K for a house and during the bubble their house was suddenly worth $300K for a few months, so they think that is the real price. No. The real price without bad mortgages, without the Federal Reserve printing up money and handing out loans, without the fed creating the housing bubble is $100K. The real price is based on how much do people in your neighborhood make because that is how much they can pay in a mortgage. The phony bubble popped, it doesn't mean anything. That was not the real price of your home. That was the inflated price before the bubble popped.

Having knowledge of what the American Dream is though...

A piece of land parcel that nobody resides on, a Mining or diggers permit for $25 a month and building your cabin or cache while you journal the area, water sources, plant sources, mineral sources and catagorize the mineral source volumne, and animal life int hat area. You may own it for only $25 a month and may tap into gold, other mineral or oil sources and become rich.

Learning local vegatation and make your own flower, throw in a couple potatos, eat squarril or rabbit and fish. Grab some wood and make a trinket box, shelf or other throughout the year and have a flea market sale.

Have a Post office box and get affiliated with Washington DC and their mail order catolog so you dont buy contraband in the nation, they can also give you grants exceeding $35,000 a couple times a year to help assist you.

Get familiar with a PATERNITY DOCTOR, not Family Doctor, those are like a 2 year assiciates degree, no medical intellect, only vitals check confirmation a problem is there, then they have to refer you to a real doctor. Which you could have been seeing the whoel time anyway and you wasted time and money that could have been prevented and saving you or your families life. Get familir with TOxicologist, they take your blood and urine and feces at the lab and can tell you "OOOPS your primary DNA smear is of a mineral enzigmne and your behavior is sort of simulating the micro-bugs temporment and bodily movement", so its more then a muscular twitch the bug is trying to take a primary control as a psychic link with your brain that is compatible in communications, and you need real doctor in those cases or your going to be misclassfied or given wrong medical treatment, mild tranq not anti- ANYTHING as they explain yoru unique system to you, NOT crazy.

LEarn you and what frontier and trappers and miners life really is CAMP. That was a real American, hoping you got the best soil to have a potyato plantation, or the best wood for a lumbering and craftsman field so you dont have to buy it form some dealer.
