What the GOP and conservatives support is essentially "slave medicine" for those without health insurance. If they're not young or healthy enough to work, let them die, was the philosophy when dealing with sick slaves.

That is what this system does to anyone without a job which provides health insurance. MANY are working fulltime jobs which "offer" a health plan but which costs too much for anyone to afford. You cannot be expected to pay 1/3 to half of your pay for health insurance... and then it still has large deductables and large co-pays.

Be serious, people. Are you really that backwards and confused in the USA to not see that the USA lags behind the developed world, that the USA is a pathetic backwater $hithole and the HEALTHCARE system is one of the major reasons why...

GET WITH THE PROGRAM, BACKWARDS YANKS!!!

Little Mexican boy goes into the kitchen where his mom is baking. He puts his hand in the flour and wipes it all over his face. "Mom, look, I'm a white boy." His mom slaps him in the face and says, "Go show your father."

He goes to his dad in the living room and says, "Look dad, I'm a white boy." His dad slaps him hard in the face and says, "Go show your grandmother."

The boy goes in his grandmother's room and says, "Mira, abuelita, I'm a white boy." His grandmother slaps him in the face and sends him back to his mother.

His mother says, "See. Did you learn anything from that?"

The boy replies, "Sure did. I have only been white for five minutes and already I don't like you Mexicans."

Gringos are jealous of Mexicans, obviously.

Face it, your cuisine consists of grease and sugar. Compare that to the delicious food of Mexico, France, India, China, Japan, Ethiopia, Italy, etc... lol... how pathetic you are.

May I ask a question? You stated in one post that you chose teaching over making alot of money (very virtuous I might add). So how is it that you have lived on every continent (except Antarctica I will assume) and managed to familiarize yourself with the native cuisine and attitudes of every indigenous culture?
Please, I would like to know so I can avail myself of this method and broaden my horizons from their current provincialism.

Anyone who wants this healthcare plan is either greedily looking out for themselves, too stupid to understand our government is incapable of running such a thing or too financially clueless to comprehend the unaffordability of this fiasco. Hell, they can't even write the bill up let alone implement it. You supporters are a joke.

If Yanks actually TRUST corporations to manage healthcare... then they're even more stupid than usual on this issue. Insurance corps are the PROBLEM with healthcare. The best solution would be to remove them entirely from the equation... that would mean GOVT would take their place... and this WORKS in every other developed nation.
Of course, you Yanks are so retrograde and fearful of change... you will probably remain forever behind the more advanced nations, such as those of the EU, Japan, Israel, etc.
Too bad... y'all love to shoot yourselves in the foot.
I would rather be conned by a corporate salesman than ordered by a government bureaucrat. At least with the corporation I have a choice, you know liberty, that quaint old idea.

27 million people on the edge of destitution.
Imagine Illinois, Pennsylvania and Oregon, all at the same time, unemployed, under employed, forced part time...etc.
That's what 27 million americans looks like. Illinois, Pennsylvania and Oregon, all at the same time.
Look at the legislative agenda:
HC Reform, Can N Trade, Dodd's bank reform...
Now, does a SINGLE THING on that list look like an economic jump start? A jobs growth bill?
The democrats have NOTHING ON THE SLATE to get jobs going again. NOTHING.
27 million people on the edge of destitution. Michigan just went WAY over 15% unemployed.
LIBERAL Herbert wrote a column called "Does Obama Get It?" where be basically said Obama seems clueless to the REAL pain in the nation. And no plan to deal with it.
He wrote ANOTHER piece on Monday where he AGAIN questioned Obama's priorities called "A Word, Mr. President?"
Eleanor Clift wrote a peice called "Dems should focus on the economy" where she points out the "tone deaf" democrats and essentially says WTF? about them not paying attention to the message.
27 million people on the edge of destitution.
HC reform, Cap N Trade, Bank Reform.
Does ANY of that look like the democrats actually CARE that you're out there struggling to stay 1/2 a step ahead of homeless? Struggling just to feed your kids?
Seriously. Look at that legislative agenda.
Doesn't it look like Obama and the democrats PLAN to keep you DESPERATE for quite a long time?
Still think they care about you?
Or are you finding out, Herbert is right: "Does Obama Get It?"
No, Obama and the democrats are clueless. Out of touch with the entire nation and the pain we're in.
And absolutely NO PLAN whatsoever to deal with it.
Obama's message? "get used to it."
HC, Cap N Trade, Bank Reform
Not a single idea how to spur jobs in the nation. Not a single plan on board...nothing. Just give you more money in unemployment.
STILL think Obama and the democrats know what they're doing?
Take a cold hard look at them right now.
You're witnessing the abject failure of the democrats all across the board. Mindless rabid dogs chasing their agenda, no matter what you say, or how bad you're hurting out here.
From Feb 2001 to Jul 2001, American loss 2.6 Million Jobs. That was just withing the first 9 Months of the Bush Presidency.

Bush inherited 4.2% unemlployment when he left office unemployment has grown to more than 8.0% and loosing 750,000 Jobs a Month.

Aside from other Bush Policy Created severe economic problems, the Republicans and George Bush never implemented anything other than policy which in the end benefited the Nation's wealthy which increased their profits. The Republicans and Bush sat by for 8 years and watched American Jobs go off shore and did nothing and still options to do nothing.

Accurate take on the healthcare debate...

"The more I hear about the debate over health-care "reform" (despite my best efforts to ignore it), the more convinced I am that America has lost all sense of transcendental values such as truth, righteousness, and individual liberty, opting instead for a crass materialism that distills all questions to a brute calculation of costs and benefits. I refuse to get drawn into a debate over whether Obamacare will "work," since the grotesque invasion of rights and destruction of law that Obamacare represents makes any such discussion unworthy of serious consideration. Those who participate in the debate unwittingly legitimize this transgression, just as those who persist in debating how to "reform" the federal government despite its irretrievable descent into unconstitutional perfidy.

Since these concerns apparently have no purchase in the popular mind, let me offer my own modest proposal for health-care reform, in the grand tradition of Jonathan Swift. All healthy persons should be detained, and their organs harvested, for the purpose of rescuing the long list of suffering individuals in need of organ transplants. Since the organs of one healthy person could save the lives of multiple other persons, there is no basis under our modern moral calculus upon which the healthy person may refuse to submit. Any protest based on the so-called rights of the healthy person are cold abstractions that must not be allowed to stand in the way of saving the lives of living, breathing sufferers whose needs are anything but abstract, but rather concrete and immediate.

What's that you say? My proposal is ridiculous because everyone has a right to self-ownership, and no one may be forced to lay down his life to help others in need? Be careful, because if you keep thinking like that, you might be labeled "un-American" as well."

Under Pelosi's bill, if you feel you don't need health insurance like many in their 20's you will either pay the fine or go to jail! Here's an example, my father who is now 67 is in great health. Other than a routine physical every few years, he hasn't needed to see a doctor for the past 40 years. If he had just put $100 a month into a healthcare savings account instead of paying a monthly insurance premium, he'd have $50k in the account not including interest by now. So he'd be looking at a net gain of nearly 1/2 million dollars. Is he an exception to the rule? Probably not. Healthcare savings accounts would be better for us all.

<quoted text>The Bill has only passed the House. Now let's see it get through the SENATE LOL!!! That's just NOT gonna happen and if it does,it will be so watered down and without a public option that it won't really ammount to much will it!! I can just hear Pelosi now...This is URGENT people...Obama has staked his entire Presidency on this. We MUST get it passed and the will of the people be damned!! Sorry Nancy, just throw another coin in the wishing well cause it just ain't gonna happen!! Booo Hooo!!!
As I understand it the Senate is coming up with their own bill. They aren't voting on the House bill, that's already been passed. If the Senate bill should pass then they will be merging both the House and Senate bill to come up with a final bill. What I'm not quite sure of is whether there will be a vote on the final bill or if it will go straight to Obama to be signed.

The Democrates are dead set on getting this health reform passed to make Obama look good and NOT because it will be good for THE PEOPLE.

I just sent another email to my state Senator because his response to my objection to health reform was that he was "working with his collegues on both side of the aisle". I pointed out that all the media is reporting the Democrates are working behind closed doors so I'd just like to know which is the truth. I doubt I'll get a response. lol
