The Socialism Thing - The Manchester Journal

Full story: The Manchester Journal

When most Americans hear the word "socialism," they immediately conjure up images of brutal totalitarianism, loss of every possible human freedom, material deprivation, and the thunder of hobnailed boots, if not gulags.

Unfortunately, Mr.Torres, ludicrous argument does not hold water, I think if we could talk to the 100 million documented, murdered felow human beings, by communist"socialism" they would agree. "Che "was a pyscopathic killer, celebrated in Motorcycle Diaries, Pol Pot was a nice guy? Stalin? Has Mr. Torre spoken to any Cubans lately? Mao was an inspiration?(To Anita Dunn).Kim Jung Ill , another role model.Fidel has done a great job!(crushing his country).
Disengenous does not even cover this opinion piece. The subprime started in Clintons admin. Larry Summers covered the hedge fund regs. look it up.2005 Mcain reform act, Maxine Waters and B.Frank deny any problems, look it up, Social Security is not a "fund" it is a wide open account, take a peek there Andy.Your appalling ignorance of the "facts" of 20th.century socialism is laughable, but you are not funny.
Bipartisan , political cronyism,(you too Mr. Obama), has corrupted our United States Constitution, not capitalism.

I have been saying the exact same thing since the first time I heard someone hiss: "communism." Perhaps not so eloquently, however. Well said, Andrew.

Veritas,
Did you actually read the article or did you skim it looking for points to argue? Are you actually saying that you believe any of our country's leaders are similar in any way to Stalin, Mao? If so, here's a suggestion: move.

Andrew is speaking of concepts, not people, and does a great job explaining historic facts outside of the skewed perception of most Americans. You, however, take everything he says out of context and spew what little you know about history in a weak effort to exert your opinion. Why don't you try really hard to pry open that closed mind of yours. You might actually learn something!

Cancer

Buoyed with confidence, you embrace the moment even as you throw yourself into the uncertain future. You aren't sure what's going to come next - and no one else is, either - but the influence of the Moon ensures that you're ready for just about anything. What may seem like completely spontaneous decisions are actually coming from knowledge deep within you. If you have a plan in mind to get you what you want, this is the time to implement it. Business and romantic rivals can't compete with you at the moment.
