Of all the potential environmental complaints Denise Pendexter could come up with, this seems to be exceptionally minor. Perhaps, Ms. Pendexter could enlighten us as to the extent of the problem she sees. A little analysis with that whine, please.

Did you read the letter? It seems fairly self-evident that she is concerned about two restaurants in her city that might be poluting the air with emissions that have been linked to cancer and asthma. If she lives very near to either of these restaurants, perhaps she is right in wondering if a coal-fired pizza is more important than clean air. Although the research she presents relates to coal power plants, there is certainly reason to believe that emissions from a coal-burning oven could affect nearby residents.

If Ms. Pendexter gets her way, these small business owners will be forced to retool (at great expense) or go out of business. And how about their customers (Ms. Pendexter's neighbors) who will be deprived of the product they want? How about their employess, who will probably be out of a job?

This letter is a tiny little snapshot of the desire of the extreme enviornmentalists who have bought into the hype, and the havoc they wish to wreak on our economy.

You miss my point, Alex. She makes zero effort, as you do also, to determine if coal fired pizza ovens are even a minuscule problem. She simply assumes they are. But, people like her never bother to try to figure it out.

Let me ask. Have you seen any hue and cry, anywhere over a couple of coal fired pizza joints?

Actually I went to one in Boca and did not believe that they really use coal. I figured that Boca would have a law against burning coal. The waitress took me back and showed me the oven. Sure enough it was burning large chunks of coal. She said that they have it shipped in from the north.

Denise has more of a chance of choking to death on her pizza, than of suffocating from coal smoke.

Denise, one question. Have you ever had a backyard bbq? Ever think about what the lighter fluid and charcoal smoke have in them? If you were truly so concerned with pollution, you would ride a bike, live without air conditioning and heat and lights, and eat only raw foods. There is life beyond pizza ovens lady, go out and find one.

Hey Moron: The coal fire oven have zero emissions. Before you trash something publicly get your facts straight. Better yet, stick your head in the coal fired oven.

I am a regular customer of Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza and what you are saying is not true.Maybe you should have gotten your facts straight. Anthony's coal is what is called a clean burning coal. Not at all like the coal you are speaking of. The pizza is the best. I will continue to eat there.

You're worried about coal oven pizza? They use anthracite coal, the CLEAN COAL. Do you see any smoke coming from these restaurants? No!

Did the writer even look?

Perhaps before you write, you should do some research?

That, plus the fact this fuel is sourced from American mines and not from terrorist supporting nations, shouldn't be lost on the citizens of Delray Beach.

And the pizza is incredible.

The emissions from two-cycle lawnmowers are going to kill you before the pizza cools!

The real concern is the fifteen plus downtown pizza joints with more opening soon. Delray is fast becoming the Spa and Pizza City.

actally people there is no such thing as "clean coal" Bush basically made that up... all coal is made from our mountains which have been knocked down for the purpose of making "clean coal" ( the anthracite someone had mentioned) i am not saying don't eat at anthonys but they company is growing and it is growing faster and faster. coal burning is illegal for a reason and so called clean coal is just a loop hole and scam for republicans to get ahead. evidence...--> thedirtylie.com anyway the pizza is delicious and i will continue to eat it and so will everyone. one person can not make a difference. the facts proposed here are true, there is just reason to stress it
