Probably since WWI when the area (American U ---> Catholic U) was used as chemical weapons laboratories.

Too bad they can't detect arsenic everywhere in DC. That way they could just fense them all in.

If I was you folks at NBC 4 I would be asking alot of questions on this closing of Fort Reno Park. Something isn't right here! I think the federal government has another use for this park it's not letting on to the public. Arsenic detected from a satellite? Do you really believe that? If it was true, and only a small section around the tennis courts was found to be highly contaminated, why not just fence that section off instead of the whole park. If that much arsenic was in the ground, any rain water runoff would also be highly contaminated. Ask questions, watch that park 24/7,somthing is fishy here. Why not get your own sample of dirt and have it tested, nothing like a second opinion. Thanks for your time and have a good day.

Bejamin Banneker memorial park is being turned into a 3000 plus tour bus depot/memorial to house tour buses for the National Mall. The first African American DC memorial and first ever DC "green space" and memorial to ever be converted into a bus depot. Benjamin Banneker Memorial park lies next to one of the last remaining DC public schools and it's playing fields in SW and lies directly next residences expensive residences to boot. Can not imagine the extent and impact upon air pollution 3000 plus tour bus depot/memorial will have on DC that already has a super eight lane high running straight thru it. On top of that tour buses are not regulated as stringently as cars. 3000 plus out of town tour buses will pollute DC's already poor air quality no matter what EPA claims tour buses are dirty.
