Equal representation of men and women on the Supreme Court is c...

Full story: The Morning Call

In 1790, the U.S. Supreme Court convened for the first time. It isn't surprising that all its members were men.Things hadn't changed much almost 100 years later, when Myra Bradwell, who passed the Illinois bar exam in 1869 and applied for her license to practice law, was rejected because she was not only a woman, but a wife, too.

By making the statement you referred to Judge Sotomayor has already shown bias.
And the statement made by the President about the law contradicts the constitution.
Just because a non-white woman was nominated does not mean that she is qualified.
After all, she discredited herself in the case of the fireman seeking promotion.
I have never considered myself a racist but I am fast approaching that distinction due to the fact that any non-white person is given preferential treatment in many matters.
And before you condemn me for my outlook let me state that I admire the judges accomplishments, however, these do not qualify her for the supreme court.

You stated it fairly well... The last line of the article states, "Sotomayor will bring her wise Latina woman's voice to the Supreme Court to more accurately reflect the experiences of an increasingly diverse America." (Sounds a little bit racist??) Change the term ""wise Latina woman" to "wise white man." How does it sound then? The US Constitution is not supposed to "reflect the experiences of an increasingly diverse America." It's supposed to mean what it says, and not be interpreted differently due to "experiences." js

Why not just type "wise voice" without the useless part. Her race should not be an issue. Wise is wise regardless of the origin or any other variable that should not be attached to the statement.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Libra

If someone owes you money and you're beginning to think that you'll never get it back, this is an excellent day to chase them up. They may not cave in straightaway but at least you'll have had your say and done what you can. Watch out for a tendency to lose your temper, because although this could be quite dramatic if you're usually the soul of equanimity it could work against you if you become aggressive or unpleasant.
