Anyone saying that coal is Not dead is full of shit. Maybe in the backwoods of KY it's not, but for the rest of America, it's going to be. Why can't y'all understand that the shit burns dirty and is a waste to our planet. And if it pays so well, how come y'alls part of the country isn't more established? For coal to pay so well, your part of the region is still the poorest!

Dirty? So is nuclear and oil. Just about EVERY form of fossil fuel has it's downpoints.

And solar and wind are just NOT acceptable in MANY areas of this nation.

Why should people accept and "understand" that which is IGNORANT (willfully or otherwise) to reality?

Coal WILL rally back-once they get the IDIOTS of WASTE out of high poliTical office.

I don't like kool-aid, and I'm independent, not a lib or conservative.

I hope coal does make a come back, it's the only thing a lot of Eastern Kentuckians know. But I have my opinions.

Coal has a very bright future, but not in power plants in this country because of the lies about coal.Other countries will expand coal use in power plants.Coal is going to have a huge comeback in east.Ky and w.KY.Transgas is building a coal gasification plant in Mingo County,W.VA which is supposed to be operational in 2015.It will produce 18,000 barrels of gasoline per day plus huge quantities of propane gas.It will use coal from the KY counties of Pike,Martin,Floyd,Knott and Letcher and the W.VA counties of Mingo,Logan,Wyoming and McDowell. On the Trangas website there is mention of 2 sites in KY but I can't find any information about them considering any coal gasification plants in KY.But we are supposed to have the Conoco-Philips coal gasification plant near Central City the produces natural gas for the Mid-West and one plant near Louisville that produces natural gas.

Still the poorest? What's happened to this country? Look at the big cities,at job loss, the crime rate, etc. And how about the role of the EPA in all this? The entire country is headed downhill.
