One of my best friends has worked full time at M&S Grill for 2.5 years. Easily one of the best employees around.

"My take on this - poor minorities are doing whatever they can to milk the system - I've never seen anyone discriminated against at my 2 1/2 years at the grill; I can't speak to claims against Mack and Schmack's on pier 5."

I have been to both establishments and guess what everything looked fine. Its BS

Just because someone you know has a great experience doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Let me guess you believe the Holocaust and slavery are myths too?!

All this is about is someone trying to get more money
I work down there and most of the staff are black
if anyone is getting screwed it's the white people

I've been working for Mccormicks and Schmicks for 4years, and Discrimination does exists, so therefore in our store we have numerous amounts of African Americans who apply for servers, hostess, and waitress and their applications were denied and whites were hired instead. Now if that isn't discrimination, what is it? You mean to tell me that NONE of the Black applicants who applied were not qualified? I agree, just because people visit and all looks good, does not mean that Racism is at a halt. Wake up people, it's here and has been for a long time.

If race is not an issue, then why do we have only a limited and I mean limited...number of Black managers within McCormicks and Schmicks Corp? Society can try to cover up Racism at all angels, but it does happen, and it's past the time when something is done about it. Really the money has nothing to do with it, it's all in the respect and equal rights that any person deserves, regardless of your skin color. We are all one in the same when it really boils down to it, but right is right, and if the tables were turned, others will who beg to differ...will fight just the same for Justice.

Of course you would say this, when in honesty all the staff that you speak of is working in the back of the organization (the kitchen) none of which are hired for the Front of the house, as I stated for servers, waitress/hostesss, and front house managers. Stay focused on the REAL issue at hand here, which is clear...I don't care how you code it, it's still a form of Discrimination, and this needs to be addressed accrodingly. Don't be blinded, everyone is not out to 'milk the system'. When the tables are turned remember you will have the same feelings and want someone to sympothize with you.

I work in the orange state. I experience racism a on a whole new level and this is a(n) every day thing; in this copmpany. Maitaining control gives the powers that be, only a capital edge. Front of the house managers are predominately white and not expected to lift a finger. Blacks have to work themselves almost to the bone to even be considered or acknowledge. White males are the idea managers for this company;everyone else is only accepted to meet certain quotas. Please do not forget that the white woman is considered a minority as well. The absence of black woman is limited as well. Why do you think that there are very few black woman that work in this company; Especially in management. On the surface; or maybe in the dining room, this company appears to be a good company to work for; but behind closed doors african americans are not wanted nor are they trusted. Regardless of what position you may hold in this company, if you are black they only want you to be seen and not heard. When white people read these articles they will never understand, because they have never been slaves, nor denied their equal rights. the only way that blacks can be heard, is in a court of law, because the company his designed to protect itself and not you(the employee). This is big business; so money can buy these companies way out of almost anything. stay tune I am just getting started.!!!!!

M$S Grill is a rasict place. I have been employeed with them for 2 1/2 years and for some reason the will not hire Blacks, even if they have a Culinary Degree. They seem to stick with "there own kind" i.e WHITE AMERICA and when you seem to bring it to there attention, they just laugh it off. I've also noticed alot favortizum inside the kitchen as well. The Whites outnumber us 100 to 1 in the place i work and it gets worse. I've seen numerous African Americans come in to apply and were all turned around and when the whites come in the are instantly hired. THIS JOB SUCKS ASS FOR ALL BLACKS, HISPANICS, ETC ETC.

I was hired at a new M&S in Cherry Hill, New Jersey in March of this year. Out of 13 bartenders I was the only minority. As time passed most of these bartenders quit because the management sucks. I stuck it out because I was waiting for something better to come along. That being said, during my time there I was always aware that there was a double standard for me as compared to the white bartenders.

This was also true for the few black servers that were hired. I was fired on October 20th and I truely believe that if I was white I would still be there. Just my opinion.

I began working for McCormick a couple of months ago and I can't wait to get out the door. Racism is an understatement. This place has drained me physically and mentally and and as rightfully state above if and when we are hired we are assumed to be seen but not heard. @Luke Baltimore MD: I'm only stating the facts. No compensation required.

I worked for McCormick & S as a hostess in San Diego back in 2006. I have never being treated so poorly, unequal, and less of a human being in my life. The white managers were so unkind to me. When it comes time for reviews at the end of the years, everyone who is non colored did get a raised but me. I will never recommended any person of color to seek employment with McCormick and S.
