William Shakspear was correct about the lawers

Comply with the law or face a law suit.
Is it really that hard to understand? |

In the good ole' days we would have Singleton tarred and feathered. Attorneys are the downfall of this nation.

we need to make attacks on government "workers" legal once again, to provide for our rights and freedoms.

It's really simple. The basic misunderstanding is about a "right" to enter an establishment. Forcing a business to accomadate those they do not wish to accomodate causes friction between both parties. Look at the gender fights. Women would sue to open private mens organisations, from schools to gyms. Most of the men's org's stopped fighting and went co-ed. When womens org's got countersued they threw a hissy fit. I do not want to go to Curves, but by law I have every right to do so. Have I been victimized? No, I'm bright enough to see that Curves is set up so that women can work out with other women. Being "handicapped" is different, by law you are not even supposed to question someones handicap. I laughed out loud at winco yesterday as walked by a pick up in a handicapped spot, with nicely stacked firewood filling the bed. Did the driver do that? Who knows.

First thing people need to do is to quit grouping all disabled with a couple working with Singleton. Many disabled have alternatives that could prove valuable to local businesses, if only they would open their minds.

Of course Singleton denied all those allegations, that's why liars do. My anger is at him, not at the handicapped. He needs to be stopped and let people make reasonable attempts to fix their property Glad to see the Fortuna Theater was able to fight him, I'll bet he regretted filing against them!!!

Mr Singleton, please have Mike Garlic Fries in Eureka at 637 Broadway, Eureka, CA 95501
correct their deficiencies. It is an eyesore that should have closed years ago. Thank you. |

Glad you are demonstrating a few of your own personal limitations. It is always great to see how many have hidden disabilities or limitations only demonstrated in their comments! |

Singleton is a bald face liar.
Sure, he sent me a letter telling me of my minor infractions, but I had to pay him to stop him from filing a law suit. |

""Singleton said that never occurred.
”My office has certainly never filed a lawsuit in Nevada,” he said.“I'm not even licensed in Nevada.” "" Oh really? Mr. Singleton claimed: "I have handled many hundreds of access cases.... VERY LARGE CASINOS IN NEVADA, the state of California, several counties and cities, as well as other very large corporate chains have attempted to defense some of my clients. All have failed." http://www.adaabuse.com/images/031015_LALA_Mo... And lawyers don't lie? Naw, never... |

Well the positive is that businesses are looking at their buildings now. The sad thing is they way it happened. Its not the right way to go; having lawyers be in charge of a bill like this. Why not have a government department in charge like the heath department?
Why line Singletons pockets? We are stuggling for income in this state. It should be like everything else. If there is a violation then it gets reported and the business gets fined and if they do not comply they get a harsher punishment and possible closure. Then if the offended want to sue they can find a lawyer to sue. Most lawyers will probibly not take such cases because there will be a record of compliance with the state. Just thoughts. I am curious why this is left in the hands of lawyers and not the state in which the business pay taxes. It seems like with the money these scavengers are making our state could use that for helping the disabled and not lining the pockets of lawyers. |

This guy is nothing more than a crooked ambulance chaser working within the outside fringes of the law. He is a predator pure and simple. I hope he gets sued someday. I don't think he cares about the disabled at all. He's just a parasite and a shyster.

"In 2001, Mr. Singleton opened a satellite office in Reno, Nevada, The Disability Rights Center, training a young attorney from the Nevada Bar to litigate on behalf of the disabled. " http://www.singletonlawgroup.com/attorneys.ht...
What was that about Nevada? These are your OWN words. |

"Patrick McMahon, a Rio Dell resident who has cerebral palsy, was one of the plaintiffs in the Fortuna Theatre case. Singleton also represented him in cases against Angelo's Pizza, the City of Fortuna and Fortuna HealthSport."
So are all these establishments now up to ADA standards or did they simply pay the nuisance fee? If they are up to standards I do hope Patrick is frequenting them regularly. |

Messtacular, you are missing the point, if a business wants to ignore a segment of the population that should be their right. That such behavior could easily cause the business to fail is aalso thier right. Government regulation to control private business is the definition of fascism. Let the businesses ingore the disabled, then let them fail as a result. With the internet, most things can be ordered in from the USA, so we can tell the regressives to go pound sand.
|

So, here's my question: If the businesses "settle," does that mean that they just pay Singleton NOT to sue them - but the buildings DON'T get "fixed" so that they're ADA-compliant?
If that's the case, isn't that blackmail? And isn't blackmail illegal? And what about the poor disabled people who couldn't get into the buildings in the first place? How much of the settlement money do THEY get? Just a question. |
