Asheville police officer gets child abuse charge

Officer on paid leave while department investigates

9:36 PM, Nov 14, 2012

"ASHEVILLE — A city police officer is facing an abuse charge after investigators say he left “significant” bruises on a child during a spanking.

Aubrey Gerrard Green, 27, was placed on paid administrative leave Nov. 9 while the Police Department conducts an internal investigation, Sgt. Dave Romick said. The spanking leading to the child abuse charge happened Oct. 31, according to allegations in an arrest warrant.

Green joined the department in December 2007 and works as a patrol officer assigned to West Asheville, Romick said. The child abuse charge is a misdemeanor.

Romick said he could release no other information because of the ongoing internal investigation.

The department would not immediately release an incident report on the case. Incident reports, which detail a crime or infraction and list the people involved, normally are released within a day or two following an arrest.

According to the arrest warrant, Green is not the child’s father. The warrant states that Green caused injuries to the child by “striking the buttocks hard enough to cause significant bruising.”

The warrant does not indicate whether Green was on duty at the time.

The child’s mother also is facing a misdemeanor child abuse charge. Maggie Nicole Jones, 22, was charged because she allowed Green to inflict the injury, according to allegations in the warrant.

Warrants did not list the child’s age or gender.

City police Sgt. Joseph Silberman was the arresting officer.

Green could not be reached Wednesday."

I don’t whether these peoples are human beings or not. Although he is not a father he is not having any rights to abuse the child. In other situations if he was the child of the father then he might have scolded nor does the father not have any rights to strike his own child. I think she might not be a mother of the child because all the mothers will try to protect the child when the child is in danger but this mom has dump shut. I think these kind of peoples must be treated worst than others in spite of being in the department we should not take any advantage over the child.
Are you kidding
