This is just a terrible situation. It would be tough to be on the parole board and make this determination. Hard to think that she could shoot him in cold blood and then only serve a few years in jail. It's sad to think of her children without a mother (or father) around.

Someone should have told her about Devorce Attornies. They are less expensive than Criminal Attornies.

It sure seems their was way more to this then was orig. told. In my opinion.. justice HAS been served & she NEEDS to be released so her kids can have their mother back!

Since when is 1 1/2 years long enough for killing someone? WAS there any documentation of any type of domestic voilence BEFORE she killed him brought up in court? It was just her saying this right? They had friends that were police officers, didn't she think it was a good idea to say something to one of them BEFORE she killed him. She should do the full 18 years!

I agree 100% w/ you,Enough!
If your spouse is abuseful..How can you even TRY to talk to the local police,if they were his friends. People in them situations fear being reprimanded when they TRY to get help. NO-ONE should judge what they don't ACTUALLY now.

"McCafferty testified at her trial that she killed her husband in June 2007 because she feared for her life because of prior spousal abuse. She told authorities that her 44-year-old husband was trying to kill her, so she shot him in bed while their children slept in another part of the home."

This murderer should have to serve her entire 18 yr sentence, hell, she should have been convicted of premeditated murder and given life. How exactly was she in fear of her life when she shot him in cold blood while he slept in bed? I am so sick of the fact that all a woman has to do is cry 'domestic violence' and it's accepted as fact, even without any proof what so ever. I know this for a FACT, from my experience dealing with the family court system the past 10 yrs. Murder is murder, even if what she claims is true, she could have easily went to the police instead of murdering him in cold blood while he slept. He did not deserve to be murdered. No one should be given a free pass just because they claim domestic violence.

"She could be out and teaching women how to cope with domestic violence," said Herman, who befriended McCafferty after attending her trial out of curiosity."

Oh yeah, that sounds like a great idea. Let her out early so she can teach other women to cry wolf and get off scott-free for murder. Bleeding heart idiots!

I know one of the police officers that was a friend with her husband. If she would of told him he would not of sat quietly. She could of done something BEFORE she shot him. Did you watch her on the stand "ACTING" it out. There is no proof of domestic voilence just her saying it. She didn't have to go to his friends she could of went someplace else. She could of left, and don't say unless you have been in her shoes you don't know. There have been a lot of people that have actually been in those same shoes that got out without KILLING. She needs to serve the FULL 18 years! She should of gotten LIFE!

Really? You have no idea what Your talking about I know the family and the daughter this is exactly how rumors get started and I know the police officer that was friends with the family as well and nothing would have been done. The police were called the day prior to the shooting and nothing was done. So before you start more rumors about the family make sire You know the details. You wouldn't appreciate someone blogging about your family and blaming York sister.

I agree with you 100%. She should have to serve the entire sentence. She took a life and was found Guilty. I don't know her personally, but since she was found Guilty she needs to stay in there for a while. If they let her out, then others will want out and pretty soon a lot of killers will be on the loose out here. There isn't anything to indicate she was being abused at all. You do the crime then you do the time--she should of gotten life without parole.

The Jury was not heard

I spoke to a juror about two months after the trial and found this persons comments interesting. I wish that the jury had been allowed to sentance Cheryl for what she did, and the jury seemingly wishes for the same thing.
I was told by the juror that they were given instructions on what to deliberate and possible sentances, Not Guilty, Guilty.. of Murder, or Manslaughter in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Degree. The jurors assembled and immediatly agreed that Cheryl was guilty. This decision was unanamous, and was arrived at immediatly. Guilty of what was yet to be determined, so food was ordered for the group. Before the food even arrived in the jury room the jury unanomously agreed to the finding of at least Manslaughter 1st. Some jurors expressed that Murder was the appropriate finding, yet others expressed some hesitancy, and so those seeking Murder quickly agreed that they could live with Manslaughter 1st, as it carried a 20 year sentance. All of the jurors then finished their food and sent word to the judge that a verdict had been reached. This process took just over an hour and a half. The verdict of Manslaughter 1st was handed down and sentancing was set for the next hearing. This juror tells me that the news of a sentancing agreement was shocking and that upon hearing details of the agreement this juror and others were upset at the leniency. This juror states that they were among a group who expressed amoung themselves, that anything less than the maximum of 20 years was an injustice.
The juror expressed one thing that stood out above all else in the trial. That literaly every word that Cheryl spoke, after stating her name, was beleived by the jury to be untrue. This juror states that every juror in the pool felt that Cheryl lied throughout her testimony, and that she specificly lied about the events that she discribed of that evening and early morning hours and lied about the specifics of the actual act of killing her husband.

Question: Can jurors from a trial speak before or submit to a parole board?

Cheryl didn't get much for flat out shooting a man in cold blood. She has never shown any remorse for what she did either. Although she is a "model" inmate, she is just doing that to get out on Parole. I hope the Parole Board denies her the parole and makes her serve the entire sentence. She had plenty of chances to get away from this man and she didn't. All concerned citizens need to call the Parole Board and ask they keep her locked up.

What I have witnessed in the community is not the seemingly 'picture perfect' family. As an unbiased observer however, I have seen her act inappropriately with younger men - namely a pool boy, and support the bad decisions, appearances, and behaviors of their children. If she is claiming abuse, couldn't her husband claim abuse as well? After all, abuse is abuse. Oh that's right, he can't make claims or explain any of his actions - he's dead! She killed him!

Being from and still living in Ft Thomas, I hate to tell this but you are in a minority for thinking that Molly did not do it and Cheryl is covering for her. What the basis for that theory is, aside from there being nothing out of order in the house the night Bob was murdered, no physical marks on Cheryl after the "night of terror" she described, the fact she refused to be given a physical examination after her arrest, no prior reports of abuse or suspected violence and her own testimony that this so called abusive spouse is someone who's name she still wants to be identified as and she is "hurt" her name wasn't included on his headstone?. That seems an odd desire for someone who has bought so much pain or terror to your life.
What seems closer to being more believable is Bob was against Molly and her modeling career and her going to L.A. and Cheryl investing the time and money in it. He was supportive of it when he thought it would be for local stores like a teen board etc. When it was creating the change in Molly, her attitude and her going to school getting into fights he turned against it. Cheryl supported it and when Bob would not allow Molly to go to L.A. was what the fight between him and Molly was about that day. Kids don't consider the consequences of their actions, they just react. It is believable that Molly went into the room while both her parents were asleep and shot and killed Bob. Cheryl's sudden movement jumping up or out of the bed is what created the flow of blood transfer that was being spoken about in trial. Since all of them, including Bob tested positive for the GSR,Cheryl admitting it is why she was tried. Cheryl also testified that she and Bob were against Molly doing any out of town jobs. When the prosecution called Bob's cousin to testify who happens to live in L.A. is when Cheryl started whispering to her attorneys and Deanna Dennison called for a in chamber meeting with the Judge. That meeting is when they struck the deal and Cheryl agreed to forfeit her right to appeal etc. The belief is because she was afraid Lauren was going to testify that she had in fact called her about staying with her in L.A. while she took Molly out there for this modeling job. Therefore contradicting Cheryl and her whole testimony which was already ridiculous If you follow the case and it's publicity Molly has used this whole event as a time for her to be in the spotlight and acts more like someone who is on a modeling/acting gig hoping for fame....
