How does one correct their children now a days, I mean use to parents spanked their kids butt now if you do you go to jail.I don't think any child should be abused or beat but I also think a parent should be able to bust their butts when it is needed it.
If you are a parent and your 15 year old son stands up and back talks you or slips out of the house time out is not going to work.

I think it is very bad not to be able to make ones kids behave. This is one thing that creates the society we live in today.

Whip their ass.....just don't leave bruises. Tan that hide. Open a can of beatbutt. Take Away all privileges ...cell phone, tv, internet. You are the parent. Be one.

I like to think that I grew up to be a productive member of society because my parents actually disciplined me. If I talked smart, I got my mouth smacked. If I was acting like a little shithead, I got my ass set on fire. This is what's wrong with kids these days. Nobody is allowed to make them mind anymore.

ok, we agree on other threads but you have to consider that it would have to be extream for this to happen considering what people get away with anymore. I spank & I think anyone who doesn't is setting there child up for failure. Then there are the ones w/ a temper that will hurt a child because they are just mean. This guy probly deserves what he's getting from what I have been told.

The problem with today's generation, is this little thing called "time out". This way of discipline is a joke, and has turned kids into monsters. The parents let the children walk all over them, talk to them as they wish, and dictate what is done during the day. I will continue to discipline my children with corporal punishment. My children are great, and very respectful to others, as well as to my wife and myself. I am going to raise my children as I wish, and government can go to hell.

What an ignorant comment. You know nothing about other people's children. You don't have a clue about what form of discipline would work for a child that does not belong to you. There have always been alternative practices to spanking and I'm sure those children don't make up the world's population of failures.

I know many people who were spanked throughout their childhood and are now rather non-productive members of society. I think setting your child up for failure would come more from basing your thoughts on what their future will be like on how many times a week you spank them.

This is coming from someone who DOES spank her child. I just have enough common sense to know that people aren't identical and shouldn't bs treated as they are.

Just so every one knows there are 2 "really" names on this thread yes I posted this one...and i know you would not want someone hurting your child like this...open your eyes read the post and realize no where did I previously say I did not believe in punishment I said there was a difference between the 2...so before you start throwing out childhood stories let's just make sure you're making a valid point.

Something I am strongly against is corporal punishment at school.

Why should administrators be allowed to whip kids with a wooden paddle? I wish that corporal punishment was outlawed in every state.

What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

I agree with you but I just feel that some times children take advantage of the whole 'I am being abused' thing. No one I mean No one should be allowed to beat a child or harm a child, but a good old fashion trip to the wood shed would do wonders for a lot of these kids.
