"Recent polls show that most Americans—including a majority of Republican voters—approve of a path to citizenship for undocumented workers."

BS!

Illegal Immigration upsets the balance of Legal Immigration. Would we have really let 6.3 Million Mexicans enter our country legally over the past 27 years? The answer is no and therein lies the problem.

Yet we continue to allow in over 900,000 Legal Immigrants a year which upsets the control of our population which currently stands at 315 Million people.

You factor in the "Chain Migration" act and our population will almost double by 2050 or sooner. The end result would be the United States will become just another third world country

" Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida argued this morning on "This Week" that a key provision of the bill, the so-called "pathway to citizenship" for undocumented immigrants, would not give anything away".

Sure it does Senator, it gives or sells our American citizenship to 11 million illegal aliens that broke our Immigration Laws to get here!

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

It's sad when some politicians and segments of our population want to degrade our American Citizenship to the point where it has no value or meaning.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

"This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this."

-- Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy on the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

DEMOCRATS ARE LIARS!

"The agreement we just reached is the best possible chance we will have in. years to secure our borders, bring millions of people out of the shadows and. into the sunshine of America".

May 17, 2007.

Ted Kennedy -- Senator from Massachusetts.
Member of the Democratic Party.

Whatever new immigration laws are written, they should apply ONLY to NEW immigrants.

ALL those who illegally entered the country should be processed under the regulations that were in effect at the time of their arrival.

NO ONE should get a FREE PASS for violating our laws.

Whatever 'path to citizenship' is devised should be ONLY for new arrivals. All those who are currently UNDOCUMENTED must EXIT the country an then APPLY for citizenship.

There is no other possible way to keep track of the undocumented to grant them a path to citizenship, without them FIRST EXITING and then legally entering to gain proper documentation.

P.S. Adding to the above ......

By requiring ALL undocumented to re-enter the country in order to gain proper documentation, will help get people out of the shaddows.

Those who choose to live in the shaddows OR new undocumented arrivals, will risk being deported with NO possibility of re-entry.

Given the choice, those who truly want to become legal, will make the effort to do so.

How are you going to stop them from re-entering the country?

We already know neither side is willing to actually close the border, so illegals will keep entering no matter how many times they are deported.

No one can stay in this country without some kind of income.

Pressure and enforcement upon those who hire the undocumented would go a long way to limit their ability to earn a living and their ability to survive.

Also requiring legal documentation in order to place their children in school would also be helpful.(in fact, I don't know know how they get away with that today)

Perhaps there will always be people living in the shadows, but probably not in the HUGE numbers that exist today.

But NEITHER side wants to get rid of the illegals, so how are any of those laws going to get passed or be enforced?

There's a reason national e-verify hasn't been passed into law. NEITHER side wants it.

There's a reason legal documentation isn't required to place kids in school or go to the E.R. NEITHER side wants it.

There are a few very loud voices calling for deportation, but they are a minority.

NEITHER side wants it.

Obama signed an Executive Order setting a 2 year moratorium on the deportation of illegal aliens prior to the most recent Presidential election. Republicans in early 2011 cut half a billion from immigration enforcement & border security.

This is what you call "AMNESTY".

So far nothing you claim in your above comment has happened. What is happening is what's been the norm for years... you all continue to complain, bring up debunked talking points and pretend like you don't see what's happening.

Both sides find value in stalemating the illegal alien issue. As for E-verify... the Obama Administration has given the option for the States or private businesses to comply with the program. However... the program IMO is nothing more than a smoke & mirrors ploy to cool down the angry masses.

As for those legal reasons with providing documentation for illegal aliens going to school... see" Plyer vs Doe and for the emergency rooms... see: EMTALA of 1986.

So you're right... neither side wants it.

The only people who demand it, Tea Party members are way too small to even effect the outcome.

Arizona mandated all businesses use the e-verify system. Over 50% of businesses simply refused to comply. And the state doesn't have the people nor desire to enforce the rule. The GOP controlled legislature only passed it to appeal the Teabaggers, knowing full well most businesses would simply ignore the law.

That's what all the anti-immigration idiots said before; right up to the day Reagan signed the last amnesty into law.

Many illegals have been here since right after the last amnesty in 1986. It won't be forever; only until the next amnesty is signed into law. It's only a matter of time.

Obama told them we are a Nation of Laws. Well, if that is so, why doesn't he enforce them instead of circumventing them through executive orders? What a lying piece of Crap. An Affirmative Action Constitutional Lawyer? Whose Constitution? Sure as Hell not ours! What a waste of the taxpayers money for his education!
