Gay sailor's death called a ' hate killing'

Gay activists are demanding answers from the Navy after an openly gay sailor was found dead early Tuesday in a guard shack at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., a victim of what gay rights groups are calling a “hate killing.” Navy investigators confirmed they considered the death of Boatswain’s Mate Seaman August Provost, 29, a homicide, but they would not confirm that Provost’s sexuality was a factor in his death.

It's difficult not to jump to conclusions when so many of us are killed just for who we are. With the military it's even more difficult as it is an institution of secrecy and cover-ups by definition.

Gay activists are making a big deal out of this to hide the fact that the sailor was technically a criminal for having had a long established affair with an underage male. While alive, it is doubtful he would have wanted to "openly" complain about any harassment because of the consequences of such an admission.

Plus, there's an implication that he was involved in the same activist group now wanting to cause trouble, which means they all knew of his illegal behavior and obviously condoned it.

What you're saying is illogical because it's not a situation where one heterosexual is showering with a group of homosexuals. It's the other way around. Homosexuals are less than 10% of the population, perhaps only 2%, therefore they will always be a minority in these situations i.e. outnumbered in the showers. And, being that homosexuals are already in the military, they are already showering with groups of heterosexuals. As they have been in gym locker rooms and dorm showers, etc. from the beginning of time.

I hate to burst your bubble BUT straight men are already showering with gay men. Shoot, when I was in basic training I showered with a bunch of straight men... naked and packed into a tight shower space... and you know what? Not once did I get excited. Not once did I think about sex. Not once did I want to cross the line with any of my basic trainee brothers. I had other things on my mind, much more important things.
Sure, after basic, things changed a bit... the tension of training let up. The showering situation wasn't as tesne and usually I was lucky enough to shower alone. See, I didn't particualrly care for the games of towel snapping and butt slapping my straight bothers would constantly engage in... because it was funny to them.
Funny how so many straight people already overlook the heavy amount of "homo-erotocism" already in the locker room scene... all under the guise of male bonding of course.

Rota Naval Station Spain. where I went to high school. Students as low in grade level as tenth had sailor's for boyfriend's with consent of their parents. 7th grade girls were always being busted in the barracks either engaged in, or about to engage in, sex with the sailors. A girl in the 10th grade was taken to the pier by her mother when the ships docked so they could both score a horny seaman. A hetero sailor beat and raped an 11th grade girl behind the bowling alley.
The point: based soley off of my experience at Rota, the Navy is not a staple in "legal" living.
There's also this little saying "What happens at sea, stays at sea"... hmmm, sort of like Vegas...

There are many issues with the military. Men and women who are gay are just the start. The military on one side is more equal then the outside world when it comes to people and perceived rights. That is because of a discipline. There are heterosexual men and women who are also uncomfortable with close contact situations and may be chastised. There are heavily religious men and women who may be chastised. You can find more. All of these may be grouped in the "gay" grouping. In America we live by bravado. Much of that is to hide our faults. Ignorance destroys. If this person did not do anything wrong in a sexually suggestive nature to another but was killed for that reason, then the accused needs to pay for it. This is a true human rights issue if the victim did no wrong to anyone else in a sexually suggestive manner.
