Both seem to be good men. However, Prices experience and his record shows he does a fabulous job. His ability to gain the trust and cooperation of other members of the court work well for the court system and local government for it to work smoothly. I have seen what head butting can do to stagnate a county and while I don't know what would happen if someone else stepped in, I know without any doubt the current system works. Why would I want to gamble that away?

I think Conley Chaney will do a good job, too.

I like Chaney as a person and if I wasn't satisfied with Price, I would consider him. However Price has decades of experience over Chaney and if I'm not mistaken, Chaney has never even ran a private practice. He's only been like an apprentice under other lawyers. He really needs to be tempered before thrusting him straight into a county attorneys position. I'm not saying that him wouldn't be able to handle it, he might do a great job. There lies the problem. He might. We don't know. With Price we do know. Why gamble with something and someone that works well? As a public servant, Price works for us and just like we would be with an employee under us, we wouldn't fire a good dedicated worker for no reason and hire someone fresh off the street that would have to be trained with an unknown work history. That wouldn't be wise as an employer.

Thanks for your great words of wisdom. Too bad the people were not thinking when they elected Wilson-Jones who proved to make a total mess of the garbage hauling contact. Wasn't Price her assistant at that time? Maybe if he is so smart, he could have helped her out at that time.

Maybe, I don't know if he was involved. You can't MAKE a superior listen to you had he been doing any advising to the contrary.

The thing about our current county attorney is that he was NOT elected "BY the PEOPLE." He was appointed by the Judge Exec. when the last one retired, isn't that correct? Voters get to decide who we "hire".Chaney might be a little younger but that in no way means that he isn't as qualified........ Take a look at his qualifications, he worked as a public defender for several years and several different prosecution office. His trial record is impressive too. I hired him for some legal matters at his law office last summer, so no he isn't an apprentice. He was respectful, knows the law and is hard working. He has my vote !
