Thanks to friends in the local Marshal's office and government officials, particularly in Utah, who have turned a blind eye to the goings-on in the Short Creek community on the Utah-Arizona state line, Warren Jeffs has held a stranglehold on the largest polygamous colony in North America. But, there's much more to this story, as related in "plygs," which is a journalistic novel about this cult. It deals with the sexual abuse and perversion at the hands of men like Jeffs and his minions, the abuse and objectification of women, and the willful defrauding of the U.S. government welfare system.
