Personally, I hope Westfield takes the Promenade over. Their other area properties are overflowing so they would only gain by opening a the Promenade. I just hope it turns out as classy and family friendly as their other properties. It definitely needs 3 anchor stores (Macys, Sears & JCPenney) with room for another 1 or 2 upscale stores like Neiman Marcus.
And I hope it has a Merry-Go-Round and a 'soft' playground! |

to Joihan777: Before your personal dream, realize that Westfield has no plans for taking over a project that included a target in this outside mall. Macy's already said no, Sears and JCPenney never were planning on it. Your best bet, thank your city council and move to Roseville.

??? Yes, I know where the Promenade is. I asked if you could tell me what happened to get to this situation. What actions did the council & Mayor take that led to this? |

joihan are u kidding? The mall was supposed to be built years ago and was an indoor mall, but the city council stalled and stalled and wanted a more outdoor mall with Target to highlight it. Do you think Westfield would even be considering buying this junk of metal now? I'm sure they are thinking of downsizing themselves these days. The big joke is people like Cooper was re-elected. So therefore, you can't blame the city council, blame the voters of Elk Grove, they got what they voted for. Hope they enjoy the site for years to come.

Elk Grove already ahs a target store. Why does Elk Grove need another target?

I agree with the question. Another Target would be inside the mall. It'd be OK on an adjacent lot however.
We NEED a Macys, a Penneys, and a Sears for anchor stores, at the least. |

i say, tear it down and just forget about it. IT's an ugly waste of money anyway. it'll go down faster than Florin Mall did. It's a waste of money. Elk Grove doesn't need a mall, we got Arden/Sunrise/Roseville/Downto wn Malls already. we don't need this bs. TEAR IT DOWWWWNNN!!!

Keep it until the economy begins to pick up. Then continue to build! Elk Grovers don't want to drive all the way to Arden or Roseville to find family & upscale shops! |

The possible Elk Grove mall would help reduce foot traffic at Arden Fair Mall. Just like Galleria of Rosevill help reduced foot traffic at Subrise Mall. As of now, I have been to Arden Fair, Sunrise, Galleria, and Downtown Plaza. Arden Fair is currently the busiest mall in the Greate Sacramento Area; in fact, Arden is several times busier than Sunrise, and about twice as busy as Sunrise and the Galleria of Roseville combined.

Hey Thomas, there was never a Mall planned at EG. It was just going to be a large strip mall with a target. what are u talking about? The project is over at elk go.

At least there's a semblance of a "mall" up at Florin. Nothing fancy but covers the basics, especially with the new Super-Walmart opening this week.

Tear down the lopsided, ugly metal, future magnet for spearchuckers and beaners.

Wow, what a bunch of negative people -- glad I don't know any of you! If you haven't noticed, there are businesses going out left and right everywhere! The real problem is way too much government interference and it is getting far worse. Elk Grove is just another "suberbia", sure there are less than distasteful things that happen here, but it's not rosey anywhere. Make the best of what you have, vote for better people, hang on because it's a heck of a ride.

True, too much city government, and times are tough, which is all the more to not make mistakes. Most of the city leaders that made these terrible decisions were cops that were elected. Like Cooper and Leary. I'm sure they benefited for this unfinished junk pile.$$$ if you know how cops work. But blame the idiots that voted for them over and again. |
