Liddy To Leave AIG; Company Will Separate Chairman, CEO Roles

American International Group Inc. on Thursday said the chairman and chief executive hand-picked to lead the company when it was rescued by the government last fall will step down.

I have mixed feelings about this article.

On the one hand, Liddy did his job at AIG under difficult circumstances.

On the other, Allstate did a lot of people wrong after hurricane Katrina, which resulted in their being fined.

They weren't alone, companies like State Farm supposedly did even worse.

Liddy was CEO of Allstate at that time and he was widely reviled for not honoring his contracts with their policyholders hurt by Katrina and yet here he is at AIG, insisting that the bonus contracts be honored.

Personally I feel the policyholders deserved to get better treatment than the AIG gang.
