I feel sorry for the alleged victim. I do not feel sorry for the accused if found to be true.

Why is the accusers name not being released? Accusers names have been released before, did the Tribunes policy change or is it due to it being an elected official? Regardless, if true, the victim has my sympathy, that woman will suffer for the rest of her life over this!

If there is any truth at all in these allegations, who is the accused and geez, WHAT WAS HE THINKING, being on city council together, he should have known NOT to go there!

Had it been anyone else their name would have already been printed! Let one of the officers from IPD be accused of rape and I guarantee they would have already been hung out to dry!! Its not fair to protect the accused just because of their"status", bring out their name, just like you would anyone else who is accused of such a horrific crime!

Well let me tell ya. 9 months ago today my son Joey died. The car went into the creek and he along with my 19 yr old cousin drowned. The ironton tribune posted a picture on the front page for 2 days of the car still in the water knowing the boys body was still in the car. The car was sticking out of the water. My point is that picture has haunted me for 9 months now. They knew there was people still in the car and posted it anyways. They know who done this crime and they are protecting the city. To hell with everyone else we just pay for their paper to stay in business. I feel sorry for the victim and this will go undone like all other crimes in this town!!!!

First of all Rhonda, I remember when your son passed and how it was handled in the Tribune, I'm so sorry for your loss, being the mother of a young son also, no mother should have to bury a child, especially at such a young age. IF it would have been an average everyday Joe, his name would have been in BOLD print, front page, in the headlines! Just another dirty little move in our filthy, little one horse town! And I'm thinking if this lady does file charges, which she should if she was raped, if a law suit is brought forward against the city......bet we have a RF (rape fee) added to our water bill! The people of Ironton will end up paying for this one also, one way or another!

Since they are elected officials, someone should go to the next council meeting and demand to know who it is. I would not want someone who puts themselves in such compromising situations making decisions on my future and the future of any residents.

Hold the flame to them.

Lets remember something people these are accusations. Its not clear that a rape almost occured or not. Why drag somebodies name through the mud because somebody might or might not have lied. Did the Duke Lacross case not teach you anything? If the investigators want to bring charges then lets see the accusor and accused name in the paper.

Very true Billy but why are other "accused" names published, for example, the couple in Proctorville? It may or may not of happened, only they know but what happened to treating all fairly? This is exactly why no one in this city has much faith in the judicial system!

What couple? Besides huge difference in somebody being arrested for a crime and name reported and allegations being brought.

But I think that this was bull crap. You know how the truth gets pulled out of shape around here. So we will just have to wait till the paper decides to tell the name of the guy. With the BCI involved the truth will come out this time Guarrented.

Why is it that, the news worthy drama involves the same person. I say, bull-&:/.

No formal charges have been filed yet. The paper can't put in people's names if it is only an accusation. That's how lawsuits start. Plenty of elected officials have been in the paper for their DUIs and whatnot and even domestic violence. It just takes time to get everything in line I'm sure.

That couple as actually indicted and has has court appearance. No one has been charged yet with rape, thus no indictment. You can't just throw peoples names around until the proper authorities charge them. And some times that part takes time.

Hell, If I was going to rape a woman I would damn sure want it to look and act like a woman. You have to question this guys sexual prefrences. Bob Cleary you better watch out,you could very well be his next victim.
