Why? Chapman did a heck of a job putting Hugely away vs. a million dollar defense. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Does this mean that fewer innocent people will be railroaded in the local kangaroo courts, or will that standard practice continue?

I sincerely hope that Mr Deaton gets in there. There will be no railroading or sentencing based on someone else's record and no need for coverups!
Go Mr. deaton the public is behind you!

If Chapman was the prosecutor I'd have to question whether Hugely was really guilty.

It is obvious from most of the comments above that those in favor of Deaton fail to remember that this a country of laws not some liberal based bull crap situation where the local population has those bleeding heart city councilors to rewrite what laws, history or general condition to further their "give everybody just what they want" way of thinking. Dave Chapman has done a heck of a job, try looking past your foolish liberal mantra and look at the document that runs this country and stop trying to pretend in and amoung the beggers, hoodlums and crybabies there are those of us who believe in the current criminal justice system and Mr. Chapman understands this idea.

I am not against Dave Chapman, but if he is leaving can we get someone with new ideas instead of a rethread. Claude Worrell, Joe Platina or any other qualified attorney to lead the CA office going forward.

The one thing I love about you Faux loving, Limbaugh worshiping Republicans is that no one can have an opinion against yours because they then are labeled a liberal. Whether the posters above are right or wrong, having their opinion doesn't make them anything more than human.

To GoUVa: The one thing I love about you liberal cry babies is that no one can have an opinion that doesn't match your "give the U.S. away" to the poor and downtroden and/or the idea that the government owes each of us something regardless of what that something is. Smaller Government is an assest and always has been! Further, the idea of being "human" does not out weigh the concept of what is right or wrong or for that matter anything else. The best creature on Earth now happens to be a dog. Always loves you and doesn't bite the hand that feeds it which is not the case with most of our government handouts to humans in the sense that what ever is doled out usually isn't enough. At least in their eyes.

Are you F*&^%$# kidding me?! If ANYONE doesn't agree 100% with the nazi/liberal agenda, they're immediately labeled racist/hater/ad nauseum! Explain this to me then, obama genius? WHY, if you think I'm a racist, do I find Dr. Benjamin Carson to be a brilliant speaker, and would love to see him run for public office? Quit being an obama lemming, put down the kool-aid and turn away from the cliff!!!

Really...your response has got to be the best of all time. I mean it! I can't help but think that you and the other guy are one in the same. I read my original post several times once I finished laughing at yours and I can't for the life of me see where I called you a racist or anything. My original point was that Republican posters on here always call another poster a liberal when their views don't coincide with theirs. That's it! Cool down...listen to some soothing Glenn Beck tapes and enjoy life.

You and "Gru" twins or just the same person? Time for you two to report to group therapy. My wife is my best friend and as for our dog, we treat her like our own kids.

I think Steve Deaton would be a hard working CA and interested in strategies to lower recidivism in this area. That is both a cost saving initiative and a community building system.

If you lock them away for life there would be no recidivism.
