No, we will not comply in ANY way with firearms licensing. I will not comply in any way. Anyone who comes to my door to try and enforce any unconstitutional law is guilty of treason and will be dealt with as such summarily.

There will be millions more like me, and soon there will be no more minions of the non-Messiah to attempt to collect our defenses in violation of the US Constitution. There are a lot of holes in the desert...

No, there are too many who vote democrat, but still value some amount of freedom, for this to ever pass. I hope, so that I won't have to shoot.

Two days in a row this NRA propagandist spews forth the same nonsense! Where the hell is the editor?

While “Gays, Guns & God” and the “THEY are gonna take your guns” worked as campaign strategy ’94 , I think it’s pretty well run its course. There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell this will ever see the light of day in this congress. I gotta admit, as a hunter and gun owner, I don’t give a damn about this bill.

From http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/blairholt...

As was the 2007 version of Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act, the current version has been referred to the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security, and the fact that THE BILL DOES NOT HAVE EVEN A SINGLE CO-SPONSOR makes it unlikely that it will ever be brought to a vote before Congress, much less passed.

My quick googling turned up a couple of things, this quote from a legislative watch site
OpenCongress Summary:
The Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act would establish a nationwide system for prohibiting unlicensed gun-ownership. If approved, the law would require gun owners to apply for five-year licenses to own firearms, and would give the U.S. Attorney General broad authority over the program. There are no co-sponsors to the bill, and there is very little chance it will be adopted.
The second thing was that Charlie didn't write this piece, it was cut and pasted from this site:

I hope you are right, however in less than six months we have seen an unprecedented involvement by the government in our lives, with more storm clouds on the horizon.

What the major media outlets overlook is that the Obama gun sale boom appears to be the result of a multimillion dollar effort launched by the National Rifle Association last summer to misinform voters about Obama’s gun policy proposals. As Politico reported in June:

The National Rifle Association plans to spend about $40 million on this year’s campaign, with $15 million of that devoted to portraying Barack Obama as a threat to the Second Amendment rights.… This fall, NRA members will get automated phone calls, mail pieces and pre-election editions of the group’s three magazines making the case against Obama.

The NRA claimed of Obama,“[N]ever in NRA’s history have we faced a presidential candidate … with such a deep-rooted hatred of firearm freedoms.” As FactCheck notes, however, the NRA’s campaign is based almost entirely on falsehoods. Indeed, FactCheck writes, much of the NRA’s campaign “dismisses Obama’s stated position [on gun rights] as ‘rhetoric’ and substitutes its own interpretation of his record as a secret ‘plan.’”

What the NRA based their campaign on was BO's past voting record when it came to gun control legislation, and actual statements that he and his cronies have made.

To name legislation after the victim of a crime is an attempt to use emotions to support legislation which cannot be supported by rational thought.
And it's indicative of legislation which is nothing but rights violating, feel good nonsense.

And here is what Factcheck.org had to say about that: "....we find THE NRA HAS CHERRY-PICKED, TWISTED AND MISREPRESENTED OBAMA'S RECORD....." & "on Sept. 22 reports surfaced that the NRA had launched TV ads in several key states, also attacking Obama. THEY ARE FALSE PORTRAYALS."

NRA Targets Obama - It falsely claims in mailers and TV ads that Obama plans to ban handguns, hunting ammo and use of a gun for home defense.
Summary: A National Rifle Association advertising campaign DISTORTS OBAMA'S POSITION ON GUN CONTROL BEYOND RECOGNITION....

Much of what the NRA passes off as Obama's "10 Point Plan to 'Change' the Second Amendment" is actually contrary to what he has said throughout his campaign: that he "respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms" and "will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns."

The NRA, however, simply dismisses Obama's stated position as "rhetoric" and substitutes its own interpretation of his record as a secret "plan." Said an NRA spokesman: "We believe our facts."

Perhaps so, but believing something doesn't make it so. And we find THE NRA HAS CHERRY-PICKED, TWISTED AND MISREPRESENTED OBAMA'S RECORD to come up with a bogus "plan."

Primary rules of propaganda: Make the LIE BIG. Keep it simple so even the most stupid of those toward whom it is directed will understand it. Keep repeating it. NEVER admit is was wrong.“THEY are gonna take your guns” fits all the criteria.

Hi Roy! You are correct in that it is extremely unlikely to ever pass. Even if it did pass and become law unconstitutionally, I would not give a damn about it, except that it would make me be ready at any time to dig a hole or two in the desert if they ever tried to make me comply with it. No, I think there are too many even on the left side who hunt and shoot to ever support it. Sadly, even the greatest President of the 20th century, Ronald Reagan, supported an unconstitutional anti-Second Amendment law. ALL of those bastards are somewhat anti-gun, unfortunately for us. But if they try to go too far (dangerously close) it will be too bad for them.

Now this Bill has to get through the House, Senate, Congress and finally the President, what makes you think it will?? I dont think it will, and I am not worried, nor should those of you who feel like the sky is falling. This bill or any other like it will never pass, and if it should somehow pass, no one would comply and who would enforce it??? If you want mine I will be at home fortifying my position.

How can anyone be afraid to identify themselves and prove that they are aware of the mental and physical responsibility of owning lethal force?

Contrary to recent Supreme Court Decisions, Americans have NO individual right to keep and bear arms unless they are members of “a well-regulated militia.” Our Founding Fathers understood this and wrote the Second Amendment to read:“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

I am so tired of NRA (a well-bankrolled front for arms dealers) mouthpieces quoting HALF of the second amendment and creating phony paranoia in order to raise the prices of weapons and ammunition. U.S. weapons dealers are getting rich--95% of assault weapons confiscated in Mexico were purchased at good old American gun shows. Every handgun to protect an American family has a 5 to 1 chance of shooting a family member or neighbor, rather than an intruder.

The almighty NRA has fought legislation that would require teenagers to have background checks or even show I.D. to purchase high-powered weaponry at gun shows.

Support this bill—stop the madness!

How many other rights and liberties do you believe should be registered before they can be exercised?

Registration begets confiscation. Ask Californians about that.

Why should law-abiding citizens be required to register firearms when criminals won't or don't? Can you explain that to me?
