Kaitlyn Ashley Hunt's prosecution for having sex with a 14-year-old girl has, as I reported last week, made the Florida teenager a cause cA©lA bre of the gay-rights movemen t. Since the 18-year-old ex-cheerleader rejected a plea bargain on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct - it is a felony under Florida law for an adult to have sex with ... (more)

I am not so sure the 18 year old is as popular now as she used to be. The parents of the 14 year old were right to be concerned about an older girl's sexploitation of her.

There is noting pleasant about this case. The younger girl is going to blame herself for anything that happens to Kate, thanks to that girl's selfishness and stupidity. No one wins, here, regardless of the outcome.

Kate deserves everything she's going to get, and probably more. All the idiot would have had to to was tell the younger girl that if it was meant to be, it would wait a bit, and that she would find her when she turned 18. But nooooooo, that would mean she actually cared about her "girlfriend".

I do believe that both of them feel that they are in love, and that only makes it worse for the younger. And that's exactly why we, as society, so not condone sexual relationships for kids below the age to understand the consequences.

I am not even going to try to understand what is going on inside the heads of both Kate and the other girl. A good stiff sentence would be very deservedly appropriate for Miss Hunt, but that will hardly heal the deep scars left over from the wounds inflicted. As you stated, it is a tragedy no matter how you slice it.

What's going on is that they're both teenagers in love. Reason and logic have nothing to do with it.

It's easy for adults like us to sit and analyze this and comment on it, but these 2 cannot do that.

We all remember our first loves and crushes and how intense those feelings were, and how logic and reason had nothing to do with it.

THAT'S what's going on here.

But Ms. Hunt is an ADULT and she KNEW the consequences of her actions, so she is now going to have to pay the price and learn a hard lesson.

She also disregarded the restrictions attached to her release on bail and tried to tamper with a potential witness in her upcoming trial, namely, the younger girl.

That's why she has to go to jail. Nothing else apparently works with her.

And there is NOT ONE other lesbian her own age at her school ?!

Lesbuianianism is not nearly as common as many people think. they probably represent not much more than 5% of the female population. I do agree that her disregard of her restrictions while she was out on bail is just cause for locking her up.

How could she be so foolish? She had a lot going for her before starting the illicit relationship and now she can kiss her great career aspirations goodbye, not to mention her freedom for a good number of years. Asd I have said before about this case, it is not about lesbianism, it is about child molesting and also about Kate's refusal to comply with the conditions for her bail. I wish this could have all ended differently, but after the latest allegations, I can no longer have any compassion for Kate. She deserves a maximum sentence and her mother deserves to be arrested for her role in trying to cover up what happened.

It isn't about child molestation either, no matter what Florida's law has to say on the subject. It's the story of a silly immature girl (although legally an adult at 18, but clearly nowhere close in reality) and her younger girlfriend who was all too happy to go along with her nonsense.

Lines have to be drawn somewhere and Kaitlyn foolishly crossed them.

Everybody involved crossed the line here, there is plenty of blame to go around. I'm just glad you didn't try to defend your asinine child molestation claim.

Would'nt it be fascinating, to know, exactly what was said between 14 year old and her parents.....Parent's whose motive and timing are beyond curious.....Florida is a very litigious state....

They've come across as such involved parents thus far, let's not spoil it by finding out just just how bad their parenting skills actually are. I'll bet there's been some serious fits pitched by everyone in the house.

I'm shocked they haven't been on Nancy Grace or the Sharpton show, already....

An 18 year old with a 14 year old is way out of line. Can you spell "robbing the cradle"? Most 14 year olds are not nearly responsible enough to make adult decisions.
