Congress Holds Hearing on Impact of E15 Gas

There are 18 comments on the www.truckinginfo.com story from Apr 1, 2013, titled Congress Holds Hearing on Impact of E15 Gas. In it, www.truckinginfo.com reports that:

A U.S. House Science, Space and Technology Subcommittee held a hearing to examine the scientific, technical and consumer impact of gasoline with 15% ethanol .

According to the Specialty Equipment Market Association, ethanol absorbs water, which can then create formic acid and corrode metals, plastics and rubber. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency allows use of E15 in 2001 and newer vehicles, but agreed to make it “illegal to fuel pre-’01 vehicles” with E15.

Unless you run a repair shop, car dealership or are stupid enough to actually believe ethanol 'saves' energy. Just look up what takes to produce a gallon of ethanol.

The purpose, as stated by president GW Bush, in his 2nd state of the Union Address, was not to 'save energy,' but rather energy independance from the middle east, try to keep up.

You are full of shit. Our gas should cost the same as it does in Trinidad. 75 cents per gallon.

Evidently you and Bush didn't know North Dakota has more oil than Saudi Arabia. It is estimated there are 24 billion barrels of oil in ND alone. For the truly slow, and Billy, North Dakota would be considered domestic oil.

Exactly. So, now that we know, we can bag the overly subsidized, inefficient, feel good only, ethanol industry.

Ethanol is the tip of the iceberg, and the iceberg is the oil industry.

But start what?

Increasing imports from OPEC again?
or
Banning V-8 engines?
Or
Pushing gasoline to $5.00/gallon?

You can't just say NO. That's 3-year-old.
You have to back it with an alternative.

The E-15 blend may lead to accelerated engine wear and failure, fuel-system damage and false "check engine" lights when used for sustained periods, AAA said.

Heavy-duty vehicles, boats, motorcycles, power equipment, lawn mowers and off-road vehicles are prohibited from using E-15.

So we can't have cheaper oil even though they have more oil than the Saudis because motel rooms went up in ND? I'm learning your progressive logic. I bet fresh produce prices in ND in the winter are crazy, so obamacare won't really pay for itself.
