"'If we can't accurately describe who the enemy is, how can we win a war?'"

The U.S. Army has further punished a highly respected and decorated officer in the wake of Muslim groups complaining about the approved course he taught on radical Islam at National Defense University ...

from Free Republic:

"In October, WND reported Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley was fired from his position at the school for the way he conducted a class on how to respond to a variety of scenarios instigated by radical Muslims. A visitor to the class found the discussions offensive to Muslims and informed some 57 Islamic organizations, which then complained to Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In addition to the firing, Gen. Dempsey promptly orchestrated a negative Officer Evaluation Report against Dooley that deeply tarnished a career that had received only sterling reviews from West Point through nearly 20 years in the service ..."

At the Pentagon, Excellence is punished while incompetence is protected.

Sorry, but the guy is a disgrace to any civil society. Amongst others he said that wartime protections against civilians of Islamic countries were no longer relevant. That's a direct call to ignore the Geneva Conventions and commit war crimes. People were executed for that after WWII.

Following Dooley's example would put the US at the same moral level as the muslim terrorists. Is this what the TMLC wants? Is this what Joe DeCaro wants?

Well, given that Joe is a violent, fanatic, fundamentalist Christian xenophobe, so yes, that's exactly what he would want.

Sorry, but I'd like to see the exact quote in context, not just your paraphrase.

In any case, the "complaint" was over how to respond to "a variety of scenarios instigated by radical Muslims," many of whom are jihadis carrying concealed weapons and dressed in civilian garb without visible rank, all violations of the same Geneva Conventions.

Why is it so difficult for the PC apologists to face the fact that our nation.....all of the West...is at war? And the enemy is islam.

Oh yeah, all those "violent" Christians are SO dangerous with their suicide bombers and beheading women and throwing acid in the faces of little girls and, oh wait, that would be muslims.

Yup, violations of the Geneva Conventions. And thus Dooley proposes to scratch them altogether, so BOTH sides can commit war crimes with impunity. Oops, suddenly the argument of "bad, bad terrorists!" now applies to the US also! How can you claim moral superiority over terrorists when you justify terrorizing a civilian population just because of their perceived religion? Do you realize that that would also justify muslim countries terrorizing their christian or jewish population?

Muslim countries have been using Islam's qu'ran to justify terrorizing religious minority populations for centuries -- the Arab Spring just given them a new "kick start".

And as for your quote:

"The course instructed senior officers at the lieutenant colonel, commander, colonel and Navy captain level that 'there is no such thing as 'moderate Islam,'' and that wartime protections against civilians of Islamic countries were 'no longer relevant.'"

As I suspected, they're "orphan quotes" taken out of context by Spencer Ackerman, the "hard-Left propagandist at Wired" whose "exposes" of U.S. government training materials led to the scrubbing of any references to Islamic jihad. See Robert Spencer's "The Human Cost of Jihad Denial".

BTW, other soldiers who taught "total war" and won their's were Grant and LeMay.

And you defend someone who wants to do the same (just with another victim).

The latter is right there on the slide.

So you approve of the tactics of terrorists? Remember, they also don't care who they target.

To do the same, we would need to believe the qu'ran.

So you approve of the tactics of terrorists?...
Was Gen. Sherman a terrorist or a total war-rior when he marched to the sea?

from WND:

"'There was no reason given, and thatís also a very disturbing aspect of it,' said Richard Thompson, president of the Thomas More Law Center, who is representing Dooley in his original appeal of his firing and negative review ...

"'Instead of being loyal to the people that are loyal to you, they would rather throw Lt. Col. Dooley under the bus for their own advancement or to appease the Muslims, which ultimately could lead to the destruction of the United States internally. If we cannot accurately describe who the enemy is, how can we win a war?' asked Thompson."

The short answer is: we can't win.

Apparently not. Just declare the other side Untermenschen, and all is allowed.

read them (especially IV to VII) and contrast with the suggestion to nullify the Geneva Conventions.

It is thus a matter of debate whether Sherman indeed followed the line of "total war".

Don't you mean "dhimmis"?
That's what the "other side" has declared non-muslims to be from day one of islam's inception.

Same meaning, different words. Seems you want to emulate them.
