I don't see how anyone could wish him well in private practice! I'm sorry, but he is a COWARD! For him to go through all the trouble that he has to try and get her to back down (like running for the Republican nomination), then his sorry tale couldn't congratulate her when she had one! No, he sat right by the door that night and when it was announced that Holly had one, he ran out with his tale stuck between his legs! I'm sorry but when running for a public spot, you should at least be a decent person, congratulate someone when you have been defeated, don't run like a scared dog! And he should have seen this out through the end, and let the best person win! But no, he dropped out, he knew he didn't stand a chance. He is nothing more then a coward!

He's done worse to specific people. Now if they are willing to forgive him for things much much much worse, things that make your complaint seem petty, then should you forgive him? Now don't get me wrong, just as in the justice system where he's forced others to pay restitution, so shall he have to pay restitution. Forgive him? Yes. Require restitution? Yes.

I have always been of the opinion that Hicks was part of the larger problem. No matter how I felt about the behavior of the "4" on that fateful January night, "the case" should have never gone as far as it did. Once it was determined there was no illegality, it should have been handled solely at the ballot box. Hicks was quoted as saying that they had done nothing illegal at the start, yet he allowed all those costly legal proceedings to go on. That's irresponsible in my opinion. Curious that none of the Gloucester 40 supporters have commented on here...

"Hicks was quoted as saying that they had done nothing illegal at the start, yet he allowed all those costly legal proceedings to go on"

!Pants on Fire!

Footnote 18 on page eight of the report released Feb. 1 by Hicks says he investigated whether members of the Gloucester Board of Supervisors violated state public meetings laws and concluded maybe they did, but he wasn’t going to risk having taxpayers pay for the supervisors’ defense team to chase, at best, a slap on the wrist and a $1,000 fine. Hicks did note that the “midnight raid” on the offices of Whitley and Stuck “could well have been an unlawful search and seizure.”

Hicks did exactly what voters expect a Commonwealth Attorney to do; he responded to citizen concerns of wrongdoing by elected officials.

"the case" should have never gone as far as it did. Once it was determined there was no illegality, it should have been handled solely at the ballot box"

False.

The only determination there were no crimes committed was made solely by the substitute prosecutor when SHE DECIDED to dismiss indictments.

Your a liar and the facts prove it,, Had Hick's been doing what the voter's wanted, there would not be a problem with him being re-elected. He was doing what the local Rotary asked him to do. Which is a non-profit, non-political group which goes against everything legal.

You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts

"Had Hick's been doing what the voter's wanted, there would not be a problem with him being re-elected"

!Pants on Fire!

Voters haven't had any problems with Hicks; he's won every election he's been in. The meeting of around 500 people decided someone else should run as a Republican. Hicks accepted it and decided to go into private practice after 17 years of serving the county.

"he was doing what the local Rotary asked him to do:

!Pants on Fire!

There were more people than the Rotary Club who asked Hicks to investigate. There were also alot more people than the Rotary Club at the BOS special meetings. And alot more people than the Rotary Club signed petitions.

"Which is a non-profit, non-political group which goes against everything legal"

!DOOFUS!

The Rotary Club DOES NOT go against everything legal!

However, if you have a problem with Rotary Club policy, I suggest you take that issue to them.

Thanks for the factual info.
Re: "and alot more people than the Rotary Club signed petitions" You're absolutely right - more than 3,700 Gloucester citizens signed the petitions with about 6,000 signatures for 2 of that 4 BOS (their magisterial district rep and the at-large rep)

Ladies....please be nice. The best thing to do is simply wish mr. hicks luck in his next endeavor. He's finally done one thing right. Like children, adults need positive reinforcement to continue in positive behavior, too. The nice thing about the current slate of candidates is that they are not continuing the old gloucester tradition of hate and spit and personal attacks. They seem to be focusing on the ISSUeS! So let's keep the example going, let's stick to the issues, and not attack the person. Be nice.

Why don't you just wave your white undies when you retreat from your bully pulpit and turn into a passive mass of jello?

Glad you brought up positive reinforcement for children dr convict. Part of your Alford Plea was to promise to behave.

The Judge will find your posts and emails interesting.

Old Gloucester tradition of hate? This from a man who has lived here less than five years? Go back and do some research and you'll see all of the animosity on the board began when you're buddy Ressler was elected.

Check your facts before you spreadn more misinformation.

You need to go back a few years, before you get to the beginning. Or are you a come here too?

I do go back more years than you may think. I remember when Noodie Belvin and Felton Grahman were board members along with the Mr. Bruce Long BEFORE he was a judge, so I do go back a few years and remember they were civil to each other... as was Ben Higgins before them.

Again, no substance, just misinformation.

Good Lord, such criticism. What about solutions? We need a trash dump, we need one that makes money for the county. The present dump contract seems to have some conditions that are not advantageous to the county, how about some solutions instead of negativity? Either way, the column, Mr. Hicks and TAI's 'old fart' status......

I contacted Bob to ask his intentions of the letter. No reply, yet, but he has in the past been good at replies. So, how can the daily press say that he wrote the letter with the intent to settle the case? They have no quote, no source of this statement? Oh, the reporter, sorry i forgot...he's not one that cares about sources or printing the truth. sabo strikes again.

The county OWNS the dump - WM manages it for the county. What "conditions" are you speaking of?

Gee, so many posts, so few facts. First, the landfill was NOT placed next to the reservoir. The northern tip of the reservoir is just off Fary's Mill Road (Route 605)in the Ark area, where as the Landfill was built up at Owl Trap just south of Pampa Road(601). I'd say they're approximately ten miles between the two, so it's a stretch to say they are next to each other and it definitely doesn't "overlook the reservoir".

As for the reservoir being too shallow, I haven't hard one thing about that. And I guess the fact in over twenty years of operation, there has never been mandatory water restrictions for Gloucester when other cities (Newport News for one)has had them. So I guess it isn't too shallow since it has plenty of water to supply the users even in dry times.

But getting back to the point. Even during the upheveal over the landfill, the board members were always civil to each other, even in the face of a very vocal opposition. So I stand my my statement that "... all of the animosity on the board began when ... Ressler was elected."

Those ARE the facts. Check them. I did.
