Apparently all you well-intentioned people who are applauding the passage of the House version of the health care bill.

What you don't seems to realize is that is is neither health care nor health insurance reform; it is...a huge health insurance company victory and nothing but money, money, money for them.

Being forced to buy their health insurance or being fined if you don't isn't reform, because not that many people will be allowed to buy into the public option.

I want to see reform, but legislation by and for the insurance and drug companies is not reform!

After the Senate gets done tinkering with the monstrosity passed by the House, the bill will be even worse.

JO LEOS of Simi Valley. Your comparison holds no truth what-so-ever. If Tommy earned a failing grade he would be given one if he did not pass the exams, whether he studied or not. Perhaps he is just smarter than your kid.

JOHN K.CARTER wrote, " Medicare fraud is a big, big problem as things are now. Can anyone imagine how much fraud there will be in the new bloated government health care program?"

Your interest is not in healthcare, it is only your money that drives you.

Carla, if your son received a medical discharge he should receive a medical pension and lifetime medical care. The military does not always want to advertise this to members or their families, but it is the case. You need to contact DAV, Disabled American Veterans immediately. They will assign your son an advocate who will fight for his disability benefits inside the system. They know the system inside and out, and are tenacious. Please to this for him as soon as you can. Also, you need to get him in the VA Healthcare system right away. They will evaluate his disability and assign a percentage of disability, which determines the size of a monthly payment and how much medical care he is entitled to. The VA treats us very well. You have good people at Sepulveda and West LA. I use both facilities and know.

As a new senior citizen and new Medicare member when I turned 65 I find the timing of this health care bill very strange. Why would this huge amount of money be spent when unemployment is going through the roof, where most of those unemployed are from small business who traditionally do not offer employees health insurance? Why would this huge change be proposed just as the massive number of baby boomers are hitting and going to hit the medicare system for seniors?
This Health bill is surely going to take money away from the baby boomers who paid in the most amount of money, worked their whole lives to make the USA prosperous, and put the younger generations, their kids, through college for better lives. Now they face the rug being pulled out from under them just as they reach for the health care they will need in their last years. Nice reward, like a knife in the back.

I especially like the penalty provisions if you don't buy the insurance. If that doesn't cause a voter revolt nothing will. What will we be forced to buy next under penalty of fines? Better mattresses? A new car every 5 years? Fines for not eating vegetables? As Franklin said, those who trade in their rights for security deserve neither. As these laws destroy jobs, by making business startup too expensive to begin, there will be less and less and less money as the taxes eat away at the carcass of free enterprise.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Pisces

Someone is in a very boisterous mood today, and you may want to make yourself scarce after a short spell in their company. Their idea of a joke may be your idea of extreme rudeness, or they could take pleasure in being argumentative just for the sake of it. Don't let this person wind you up or you'll go off pop through sheer tension.
