We don't get a refund. We pay so others don't have to. They already gouge us enough. Besides we already pay taxes for what we use, and the dead beats too

Then the IRS will send you a bill if you don't have insurance.

We are exempt. I was wondering for others that Obama has not been kicked back too. How will they find them.

The Obama administration doesn't give a shit about taxpayers. It's about those progressives that are too rich or too poor to pay taxes.

You're right my brother. Obama is 100% for himself and his party. He has absolutely no loyalty to his adopted country.

If you have a social security number, they can find you.

If you want your income tax refund for 2012 then you're going to have to prove you have health insurance. If you can't provide proof then the fine will be taken from your tax refund.
The first year it is only 95 dollars or 1%, Consumers donít have to report on whether they have coverage or are exempt from the mandate until they file their 2014 income tax return, which are due April 15, 2015. All you have to do is reduce your withholding putting the balance in your savings account instead of uncle sams then instead of getting a refund you write a check for your taxes.

If you donít pay it, all they can do is wait until they owe you some money and take that. Or probably just send you a letter every now and then reminding you that you owe money to the IRS.

The law also prohibits the IRS from using liens or levies to collect any payment you owe related to the law, if you, your spouse or a dependent included on your tax return does not have minimum essential coverage.

More importantly, there are no criminal penalties for not paying up. You canít go to jail Ė thatís not an option.

So for practical purposes there is no mandate, the only way they can make you pay up is to change the law. Given the ugly way it was passed and the problems it caused that won't be happening which brings me to a point.

This law was passed by the Senate under political circumstances where it did not go through the normal back and forth changes with the house to perfect the bill because they had one narrow window where they had to choose between not passing the bill or shoving a bad bill down our throats in the name of their cause.

The real cause is that they wanted a single payer and Obama would accept a foot in the door then adjust later. What he did not count on was that their attempt was so sorry that it would poison the well against changes in the future. It is amazing the things you can sell Americans when you do it a little bit at a time but the minute you try to shove something down their throats or force things even if it is for their own good they revolt against the idea. You people think you can give us something that stinks like Obamacare and we will flee the the salvation of single payer when you hold it out. I would not count on it.

Then why is everyone bitching about the individual mandate?

Because they don't like this law and are mad. Nobody likes being shanghaied and that is what happened to the american people. This law is not going to be what we were promised and will be a impedance to democratic party progress for some time to come.

But according to you everyone can easily get around the individual mandate, so it's really no big deal.

You are kidding right. The Government workers in charge of Obamascam have room temperature IQs. They can barely find the Bathroom without a keeper. They are going to locate me through my S S number. If they do I will pay the fine, but I really don't expect much from Government workers. It won't apply to me or my family, but I don't expect they will locate many others either.

No one is trying to get on the website. Even Secy. Sebilius can't get on. She tried today, and it crashed. How embarrassing that must have been. Maybe the Japanese could send some of their experts to help fix this mess. They are so much smarter then the Americans that graduated from Union Schools.

Take one look at Scabelius and you can figure why nobody's getting on. She's one of those con artist bureaucrats that Obama will have an easy time appointing now that the corrupt party has gone to the nuclear option. He's still bitching after he appointed two of the worst supreme court justices of all time with bipartisan support, if you can call Graham a Republican. He also appointed the worst AG of all time. Graham and McCain are really Democrats but Obama, the perpetual crybaby, still thinks the R party is sabotaging him. He's a disingenuous idiot and the people who believe him are beyond absurd.

It is a big deal because the law is not going to work and it is important to point out any of its failings including the mandate which is a critical component of the law.

So now the law has been changed until after the mid terms right? Do the Democrats believe those who have had their insurance coverage cancelled, or those who have lost their Doctor will just forgive, and forget next year at election time? I don't think so, and anyone already signed up will be paying higher premiums. What a mess. The Dumb Democrats think this will just be an old nightmare this time next year. I think 100,000,000 who are left to find new insurance coverage will be very angry when they go vote. They will be ready to Vote Republican, more then once in Chicago.

Correct.
Just as they require me to have accident coverage even though I've never had an accident, which lowers the cost for those who DO have accidents.
That's the way insurance works.
If only the people who used the services had to actually pay for those services, they could never afford it- unless their last name was Gates or Buffet or Winfrey.
no one makes you have accident coverage because obama doesent force you to drive ahole!its your choice to drive?have the guts to say what this health plan really is!the people who really benefit from this are the same people who get wellfare, excuse me, snap cards and others that are on government hand outs!its not enough that dead beats get all these benefits but now tax paying working people are supposed to pay for their health insurance!there is no way to seperate the truly needy from these deadbeats so all get free health insurance!make the healthy pay for them is how its supposed to work??how much more do others have to pay to support the do nothings?last but not least is the fact that all dont have to pay into this plan?congress has exempted itself from this along with the big unions obama exempted?why are the main people who shoved this plan down the publics throat not made to use it?if its so great then all should be made to use it with no exceptions period!

A hundred million?

Hardly.

The vast majority of people will have the same insurance next year as they had this year. A small percentage of those will be paying higher premiums or have higher deductibles.

We're talking a couple of million people who will have lost their crappy insurance and have to get a different policy with better coverage; albeit for a higher price.

Those people will be balanced by the millions of Americans who finally be able to get affordable insurance for the first time in their lives.

It'll essentially be a wash.

If I drive I have to have accident coverage even though I don't use it.

EVERYONE uses healthcare at some point- EVERYONE. So it's appropriate to require everyone to have health insurance.

It already has, we still have a bunch of people unemployed and healthcare cost did not come down and there is no reason to believe they will. Since the democratic senators decided we dont' need the filibuster anymore this will be easier to get rid of.
