Full story: NewsBusters.org

In a July 7A New York Times Magazine article A apparently scheduled to appear in its July 12 print edition , Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg told the Times's Emily Bazelon that "at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don't want to have too many of." Who is this ...

Falls right in line with the Feminists view as noted by their founding member and Icon of the Liberal Left:

Margaret Sanger
Founder of Planned Parenthood

In Her Own Words

"The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."
Margaret Sanger, Women and the New Race
(Eugenics Publ. Co., 1920, 1923)

On blacks, immigrants and indigents:
"...human weeds,''reckless breeders,''spawning... human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people

On the rights of the handicapped and mentally ill, and racial minorities:
"More children from the fit, less from the unfit -- that is the chief aim of birth control." Birth Control Review, May 1919, p. 12

On respecting the rights of the mentally ill:
In her "Plan for Peace," Sanger outlined her strategy for eradication of those she deemed "feebleminded." Among the steps included in her evil scheme were immigration restrictions; compulsory sterilization; segregation to a lifetime of farm work; etc. Birth Control Review, April 1932, p. 107

EUGENICS is the future of Obama's National Healthcare Plan.

Shall we disband the united states? It was founded on racism, slavery, and the slaughter of the natives.

In the twenties, eugenics was a popular notion among many well-respected people. Poverty was seen as a form of inherent and moral weakness. Of course, she was also watching women who were killing themselves by having too many children with no right to birth control and no money for food much less medical care.

BTW--like most PLM'ers, you don't bother to READ the information. Sanger's mission was to make BIRTH CONTROL available, not abortion.

that's nice, but most SCOTUS judges don't believe the decision was unconstitutional. You see, virtually all extant abortion laws of the time used the same language, so how could the same law be unconstitutional in one state and constitutional in another?
AbortionViolence Dot Com wrote:
Even a spiritual descendant of Margaret Sanger can admit that Roe was constitutionally illegitimate, as Ginsburg did before a Princeton University audience in October 2008.
[Daily Princetonian] "When asked about the discrepancy between her support of a woman’s right to choose and her disapproval of Roe v. Wade, which opened the door to legalized abortion in 1973, Ginsburg said that she was surprised by "how far the court had gone [in this decision]."
"It would have been easy for the Supreme Court to say that the extreme cases are unconstitutional" without broadening the decision to the 50 states.
Ginsburg said that the abruptness of the decision, which declared many state statutes unconstitutional, created a "perfect rallying point" for people who disagreed with the notion that abortion should be a woman’s choice. She added that the decision may have also stifled dialogue with state legislatures.
"I never questioned the judgment that it has to be a woman’s choice, but the court should not have done it all," she said.
"She added that in the absence of a sweeping decision like Roe, it is possible that abortion rights legislation would have evolved organically in the same way that no-fault divorce laws have."

Here is the article
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/12/magazine/12...

And here is what has gotten the AC people panties all in a twist.. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/12/magazine/12...

"Q: Let me ask you about the fight you waged for the courts to understand that pregnancy discrimination is a form of sex discrimination.

JUSTICE GINSBURG: I wrote about it a number of times. I litigated Captain Struck’s case about reproductive choice.[In 1972, Ginsburg represented Capt. Susan Struck, who became pregnant during her service in the Air Force. At the time, the Air Force automatically discharged any woman who became pregnant and told Captain Struck that she should have an abortion if she wanted to keep her job. The government changed the regulation before the Supreme Court could decide the case.] If the court could have seen Susan Struck’s case — this was the U.S. government, a U.S. Air Force post, offering abortions, in 1971, two years before Roe.

Q: And suggesting an abortion as the solution to Struck’s problem.

JUSTICE GINSBURG: Yes. Not only that, but it was available to her on the base.

Q: The case ties together themes of women’s equality and reproductive freedom. The court split those themes apart in Roe v. Wade. Do you see, as part of a future feminist legal wish list, repositioning Roe so that the right to abortion is rooted in the constitutional promise of sex equality?

JUSTICE GINSBURG: Oh, yes. I think it will be.

Q: If you were a lawyer again, what would you want to accomplish as a future feminist legal agenda?

JUSTICE GINSBURG: Reproductive choice has to be straightened out. There will never be a woman of means without choice anymore. That just seems to me so obvious. The states that had changed their abortion laws before Roe [to make abortion legal] are not going to change back. So we have a policy that affects only poor women, and it can never be otherwise, and I don’t know why this hasn’t been said more often."

You didn't read deeply enough.
Margaret Sanger wanted to order society to her specifications.

Obama is trying the same thing, saving only Democrat voters.
That's who his Stimulus Plan rewards.
That's who his GM bail-out rewards.
That's who his Cap and Trade Plan will reward.
That's who his National Healthcare Plan will reward.

Time to move on??? That's what Bush keeps thinking.

Planned Parenthood has a "Margaret Sanger Award"...have they moved on since writing that revisionist biography you posted?
I think Hillary Clinton was a recipient.

Isn't that ultimately what anyone wants? Doesn't the pope want the world to follow him? Didn't bush want americans to follow his--well, cheney's--ideas? Sanger ultimately wanted a society where children didn't go to bed hungry and women didn't have to be brood mares.

As for Obama--get off it. We just went through 8 years of bush rewarding every republican who kissed his ass. And when did GM become a hotbed of democrats?

Eugenics is a pretty nebulous term for any number of social designing plans, like the push to reward christians and ignore everyone else, or trying to marginalize gays.

Sanger accomplished a lot for women, like it or not. If you;ve ever used birth control, you owe her a debt of gratitude--especially if you use it without getting permission from your male counterpart (presuming you are a woman).

Here's the amusing part about Granny Ginsburg. In this current president's "healtcare plan" this 75 year old ninny would be given a year's supply of Dilaudid suppositories and told "Have a nice year in la-la land!" Too old and cranky for pancreatic cancer treatment. What would Sanger think about that I wonder.

Gm became a hotbed of Democrats when the UAW took on partial ownership of that company.

Really didn't spend much time thinking about the consequences of the Margaret Sanger quotes I posted, did you?
