I thought in any domestic case it was 72 hours before you could be bonded out. Is there special treatment for police officers?

Of course there is. He is on a paid vacation as a reward for beating up his little girl. Then he will get off and get to go arrest others for doing the same thing he did. Catch is they wont get a paid vacation or a free walk.

Or he will get City paid counseling to treat his anger management! This happens more than the public knows...they say I have a stressful job and I need help coping! I say he should get the same treatment any other "non-city" employee would get! As for the daughter...someone needs to get her in a safe place, at sixteen they have enough pressures...they don't need to fear their parents.

No offense because some cops are not bad, but this is probably why a majority of them have a "god complex" because they can get away with anything and they know it. I'm sure his abused daughter loves the fact that her father gets paid leave until they decided if her being abused is worth firing him and him getting in trouble over. Isn't our justice system amazing.

This is so typical. Everyone jump to conclusions before hearing ALL the facts. I don't live with them, therefore I don't know exactly what happened. I can express, I have raised two teenagers. It's not always an easy task, I didn't say never, I said not always. It might be that both need some type of help.

I understand that you are doing your job in covering this story, but do you realiaze or even care how much danger you put his family in by showing their address? He is a cop. There are many people that dont like him just for that reason.

I have been trying to get this police officer off of the streets since July 10, 2009. On July 10, 2009, I called 911 to evict a young lady that had been staying with me. I was very angry with this young lady, and I'll be the first to admit that. For absolutely no reason when Officer Darren Martin came to my home, because I was yelling he handcuffed ME, dragged me out of my home and threw me against the brickwall of my home. The only thing I was doing was screaming "What have I done?" There were 4 witnesses at my home and Officer Martin was alone. When he slammed my head against the wall, my glasses fell off, it put a big gash on my face to the left of my left eye and I had the worst blackeye I have ever seen. He called in his supervisor, Lt. Gerald Buckley, 3 other officers and the paramedics. He had nothing to arrest me for and his supervisor asked me over and over again if he had placed me under arrest. When the paramedics came the handcuffs were so tight that they could not even get a pulse to check my vital signs. Blood was dripping from my face and it had already swelled by the time the other officers arrived. Lt. Buckley was very upset and when it was all said and done he told me if I felt like it was necessary to go to the hospital (which I did) and then contact the City Attorneys office and file a formal complaint which I also did. That was a joke! The City Attorney, Matthew Collins, said that my witnesses had said I was out of line which I know is a complete and utter lie! Just last Thursday I spoke to an attorney at Lawter & Associates and I informed him that I have permanent discoloration on my face and a knot that will not go away. I have horrible neck pain and headaches as well. He said it would be my word against me and my witnesses and that I would lose because they were public servants. My main goal is, and has only been, to get this wreckless police officer off of the streets before he hurts more innocent people. Officer Martin has some HUGE anger problems that need to be addressed. I am just sorry that I did not file charges so that maybe he would have had to have gotten the psychiatric help he needs and maybe his daughter would not have been abused by him. Because of this, I am going to file all the necessary papers at the police station to emphasize just how dangerous this officer is. I hope that more people will come forward. I will not let this go until he is stripped of his badge.

Thank you!

Hey skip, before you post, why dont you check you facts. There is no 72 hour hold before you can get out of jail. So there was no special treatment there. He is on paid leave because they are trying to figure out what the truth is. You are hearing one side of the story. I can promise you if he is guilty, then he will not get off easy.
Of course they have stressful jobs, then are dealing with stupid people like you everyday. You all should put yourself in his shoes. If someone said you did something wrong, whatever that may be, would you not want people to search for the truth, not just ASSUME?

Susan, I think you are full of shit. First of all you dont fill a complaint with the city attorney, you file one with the police departemt. There had to be a use of force packet completed by Lt, that is then passed up the chain of command. Everyone wants to point fingers and act like they dont do anything wrong. Im sure you were acting crazy and were not doing what he told you to do.

Just one more thing Susan, you dont call the police to evict someone. You have to fill the correct paperwork throught the court system and go before a judge to get a judgement against someone. So just FYI, that is a civil matter not a OCPD matter.

Treat this case like any other? thats a load. he is getting paid for not working because he beat his 16 year old daughter up? i have 3 kids and I understand it is hard but you shoulf never lay a hand on your children, especially a female. This just proves cops look after their own. This case is dispicable and the paid leave is disrespectful to us becuase our taxes are still going to pay for a cop who is not allowed to work but is allowed to get paid. I know its only one officer but still.

I filed a complaint with the OKC on a traffic stop. It took forever for them to respond after filling out the appropriate packet! They assured me they would sen the packet-but never did so I got it off of their website!! The substation commander was condescending and absolutely unconcerned. As to the Martin case-I resent my tax money paying this cop while being investigated. As channel 4 and channel 35 have stated this apparently was not the first time this has happened. Susan-don't let go of our case. It frightens me that an officer would do this to his own child. How does he treat citizens!! I taught school for 30 years and raised a son-never did the thought ever enter my mind to physically assault any students or my son! If Martin is so stressed= he doesn't need to be a cop!! I agree I believe that CONCERNED is a cop!OKC wake up- this is not a cop I want paid with my tax $$. Also-you have to respect the cop that worked this case-he could have made up something to help his fellow officer!

You are all stupid. You were not there and you dont know the whole story!!!!!!!!!! Your tax dollars are paying for worse things than an officer who is off while they figure out the whole story. I bet some of you dont even work so you dont pay taxes anyway!

He was treated like any other nocop. I think it is very funny that you all think you know everything after hearing only 1 side of the story. Do you think the news media read the whhole report? No they read what you make him look bad. Why dont you all take the time to go downtown and get a copy of the report and read the whole thing and then make up your mind.

okay. I think concerned is his wife. What is it you do if your not a cop? I mean you sure to defend them like one. I mean cops are great. But what reason would you have to hit you daughter? Explain that since you insist on sticking up for him. I mean there is restraining and making it to where the girl has a black eye and bloddy nose. She is 16 years old, is he that weak to where he had to punch her or knock her around like that.

I have an idea! Let's arrest all the parents and cart the kids off to foster homes where the real beatings are. Oklahoma has a mandatory arrest statute whenever domestic abuse is reported, which in this state can be anything from a disapproving look to broken bones, and it doesn't matter if it really happened or not-- Dad goes to jail. Is this a great state, or what?

He should never ever be allowed to be a police officer again., If he has no restraint from harming his own daughter., What about the public he's to serve and protect?
Give him a job as a stable cleaner at the fair grounds

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Taurus

Someone is very short-tempered, and they're liable to fly off the handle at a moment's notice. Maybe they're feeling vulnerable in some way or are desperately trying to defend what they see as their territory. Be sensitive to this and don't goad them into being even more irritable or upset than they are already. Frankly, it's just not worth it.
