If you think this is bad, how about the woman in Marion County that left an open beer in her own kitchen while she did laundry and other chores. A friend of her 11 year old daughter snuck in and took a drink. She was prosecuted for aiding to the delinquincy of a child and threatened her with jail time if she didn't plead guilty. She pleaded guilty through a lawyer, the charge was reduced to Reckless Conduct and she can no longer legally drink for a year and her daughter and two sons cannot have friends over for a yar. Can you spell fascism? Prosecute and hang everyone in this fascist government, and anyone who trys and protest these terrorists. The public has had enough of being murdered and extorted by these criminals.

Just think of the uproar if a school teacher was making his students listen to Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh while in her classroom. Well there is a teacher at Southwestern forcing her students to listen to National Public Radio while they are in her room. And she shows that crummy Al Gore all the time

The fact that this has even happen is ridiculous considering the times we live in. THINGS HAVE CHANGED.. people think for themselves now and all of you super conservative, and/or religious people are SUPER piss3d about it, because its something that cannot be controlled and you are afraid of it. My kid was in the class, I read the article and it's graphic explanations of sex acts were not in any way appropriate for a group of 15-16 year olds. My objection had nothing to do with the homosexual nature of the of the article, but rather the content (genital licking,**** fencing, anal intercourse, genital massage until ejaculation). Yes, as a parent you absolutely have the right to sensor what you want your child to learn. But ask yourself this question, do you want a mediocre student or a student who excels in every aspect of their educational career. If we over sensor our kids based on outdated ideology then we set them up for failure and naivety. These kids hear and see much worse in the halls (where the information is not coming from the teachers) and on the news. Why as parents do we feel we can protect them from what is going on in this crazy world? Is it not better to prepare them and arm them with the knowledge and tools needed to make it in a world full of nay-sayers and scam artists? Or would you rather we send our young adults out into this ever changing society without the skills to defend their beliefs and think for themselves.

So, you have some options take your kids out of public school and teach them ONLY what you want them to learn or ateast have the backbone to approach the teacher personally before running to the BOE.

You Americans make me giggle. Having spent many happy months in your country over a number of years I have observed that your educational standards seem to get lower and lower. You try and sanitise everything to appease a significant number of people who don't seem to like the fact that there is "difference" out there. The ability of your youth to think critically for themselves appears to have been replaced by indoctrination. You do them a great disservice in not preparing them for a full and satisfying life.

I must just add that we are experiencing similar problems in the UK re educational standards, and that whatever a persons viewpoint on homosexuality, religion, politics, global warming etc it doesn't matter to me, as long as they can present a coherent and cogent arguement as to why they hold that viewpoint. It is that lack of critical thinking for oneself that we are losing.

The parents are overprotective. Whether it was for the homosexual aspect or just the sexual, the parents need to get a grip. Most teenagers masturbate, have sex, and watch pornography. They are curious about their bodies and the big hooha adults make about sex.
For everyone saying that the English teacher should teach English, not biology, I have this to say: Find a better argument. We do not know why he chose this article, or what the assignment was. It is possible that the day before his class had discussed homosexuality. He found the article in question, and asked them to write a report IF THEY SO CHOSE. The students may have been asked to write about how a science article is different than one from a gossip magazine.
I hope this teacher goes free. He was not pushing an agenda, simply presenting a fact about nature and asking students to use their brains, unlike most teachers.

If a magazine article helps in the understanding of a standard being taught effectively then so be it.
