In approximately July of 2006, DEP found numerous violations with the testing of the city's water resources, including the reporting of invalid data to DEP on 40 different occasions from February 2002 through September 2005.

where were the city councilors when Matt Marro was failing to do his job? Did all you experts make sure he was doing the required sampling? Over 3 years of violations and none of the geniuses on the city council found out? It sounds like the company running the water system is meeting DEP requirements, maybe DUmbrowski would like to hire Marro back????

Prior to 2006, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) had granted Leominster a continual waiver from the requirement of a filtration plant at the Distributing Reservoir.

this consent order was comming anyway, surface water supplies are reuired to be filtered.Matt just sped up the process.

The events that have transpired over the last few years exposed several significant problems with the water and sewer infrastructure. These deficiencies are the direct result of inadequate oversight and management.

let's put YOU in charge of running the water system and see how long it takes to get a NON,sounds like someone is a little pee'd off because the mayor slammed you at the last meeting.Keep throwing those big words around like Total Trihalomethane, or TTHM's as you "people in the business" call them.Rowlands included.Dopes!

You didn't mention the strolls and the courthouse this time. NO one will believe it is the city councilor's job to oversee the water dept. Plus, you know the city council was kept in the dark about this- as well as most other things they inquire about. They are always told that if it isn't in the charter- it's none of their business. Now you want to blame THEM???

Why don't you explain to the public that you are the mayor's girlfriend in your pro-mayor blogs??? That would be the right thing to do. You know- full disclosure!

How come the mayor escapes your comments? Isn't he responsible for the supervisors in charge of the water system? Are they still in place?

At this point anyone could do a better job than what we have had over the last 3 years. I gues TTHM is a big word for those in charge, maybe that is why nothing has been done.

Does sound like an insider. What meeting? What slamming? What BS!

People lying to the DEP about test results for the public drinking water supply and the only question raised is "How does this make me look?"

So for writing a plea for accountability that was well articulated you call this city councilor dumb. Come on, whats dumd are the citizen of Leominster for voting in the rubber stamps tocci, sal, lancini. And for being to dumb to understand the Library funding options. But not too dumd to play on the unused tennis courts that we so deperately needed in place of safe drinking water.

From all my water comes from a bottle..

This is just their "issue of the year"- every year at their first meeting they pick one topic out of a hat to grandstand with to use as an election ploy- gotta keep your name in the papers somehow!

so Stephen- you say that clean water is an election ploy? That is a ridiculous statement to make. Furthermore, the city council didn't bring this up. THE MAYOR DID when he submitted a request for a multi-million dollar loan to pay for it.

Obviously whoever is in charge of our water supply was asleep at the switch. Wouldn't someone from the water department have oversight...not the city council. Same is true for the sewer department, no? Why would anyone blame the city council for asking these questions?

the person who was responsible for the water issues worked for the city of Leominster (matt Marro),a private company now runs the water treatment facilities.Do not blame the present company for all the violations mattt caused.
