Ever been thru a divorce with the law firm of Walker & Varney? Ed and Stacy Burns did and so did I. Quite the experience. Attorney Walker attempted to get a life time restraining order inserted into our final divorce agreement that included insinuations that I was a threat to abuse children. It nearly sent me off the deep end when I saw my wife's signature on this document. When Stacy Burns was murdered and learned who represented her in their divorce, I immediately suspected the ex. In fact I wrote a book titled "the truth about divorce" based upon my experience with this law firm. It was being test marketed at the time of her death. Here is a quote from the book: "Occasionally this has catastrophic consequences and results in a murder, a suicide, or both. It's a cost of doing business in this manner, paid for by the surviving children". After her death, I immediately stopped marketing the book and contacted our public officials and the Manchester union. No one called me back. It's now been one year since her death and this has had a enormous affect upon my life. My ex wife and I now have a good relationship, and the facts about went on in our divorce are still coming out. However, the NH suprememe court conduct committee who oversees lawyer conduct has rejected my grievance and appeal against this law firm based on a technicality. Seems to me no one wants me to tell my story.

So If I understand your hypothesis. It was an attorney that forced your wife to sign something about you that wasn't true, under penalty of perjury. And now that same lawyer or at least same firm is responsible for forcing Stacey to make stuff up about Ed.Enough to make a otherwise gentle human being into a psycopathic killer.I'm sorry but that is absurd.(what would be their motive)

You sound like a lawyer Jim, or have your motives for attempting to berate me, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. People can and do get pushed to do things they would never ordinarily do all the time, including murder and suicide. Divorce is considered more traumatic then someone you love dying. Now try to imagine the person that you love and adore did not die, but is seemingly making accusations and insinuations attacking your character. Imagine how you would feel to have your wife, your children, your home and your assets taken from you through no fault of your own. Imagine your career that provided for your family is now being used against you. That this career left you with few marketable skills (merchant marine) in a world un-sympathetic to your plight. Then imagine that you are saddled with nearly $2,000 per month of child and spousal support based upon this past career, and presently don't have a steady income; and no one believes you. Imagine that you are now facing debtors prison for not being able to meet your financial obligations. That's what Ed Burns was facing and Stacy was seemingly the cause. However, things are not always what they seem. I know this from personal experience. I wrote those words months before her death rocked Wolfeboro, and if Ed Burns is involved, this is exactly the end result predicted. Unless I'm some sort of a physic, this was very much a foreseeable consequence of the behavior these lawyers engage in. Never in my darkest nightmares did I envision it happening so close to home.

Couldn't this same theme of rejection and rage also be applied to the other persons previously mentioned here? This could be one of the contributing factors as to why this case is taking so long.

What happened to who killed Stacey Burns and why is his killer still walking around enjoying life ? How has this descended to arguments between lawyers? Ed Burns (despicable as he is) did not kill Stacey. Jim Vittum did. And has enjoyed every bit of the attention he has received. JV has a deep dark past. This is not the first time he has been around the "edges" of a mysterious death, and yet the New Hampshire investigators still have nothing to offer. What a pity - 5 innocent children now consigned to Ed Burns. What a holiday their lives must be.

I think the police need to focus on the first suspects they questioned. I think they might have missed something. After reading all these comments, there is no question in my mind who did this. focus on the man who showed up the next morning with coffee. I think he was just making sure that he did a good job!

Jim Vittum is not as innocent as it seems, he is a pretty shady guy who gets hung up on women after they have rejected him. Maybe the police should check into the incident in Tuftonboro a few years back when he was in love with a teacher at the elementary school. Jim hired a pilot to fly a plane real low over the school and drop parachutes holding flowers with I love you all over them. The staff had to take the children in because they did not know what was going on with a plane flying so low over a yard full of children. Also all the flowers he had delivered to this women with a cell phone tied to one boquet with his number programmed into it. Jim just can't seem to take "NO" for an answer.

i do not know ed burns on a personal level. i am in a position to see this family. and i have seen true courage. ed burns, though probably not too cozy in the community, does his best to walk with his head held high. and i know it does not take a rocket science to figure out that going on and on with your negative opinions is not doing his children any good. get a life. write your own story. ed burns loves his kids and they love him. they have all been though enough without this CRAP. and this story, though perhaps wanted and/or needed by people, really has not done any good, if only to glorify the writer's ego. in many ways, it is also part of the CRAP. i would like to see a story--if there has to be one, about the positive attention the kids are getting, or how this family has had the astounding courage to keep going. like so many other people on this planet, ed burns is a father. maybe not a perfect one, but he does try. and i wish him--as well as his beautiful, wonderful family, the very best in this world.

Jim vittum is a perverted jerk. I use to date the idiot, Years and years ago He's not fooling me, he is abusive. His ex wife Jamie is a real doozy as well, anyone look at where she was that night? Maybe following her ex husband she was crazed over losing? Too bad a woman had to die and the cops are letting these two get away with it.

Anyone who dates you needs their head examined in the most substantive way - who knows the next "public girl" could be your next victim.
