Each CAMP in Korea is different, therefore the amenities will be different at each CAMP.

ALSO, you can take 50% of your weight allowance. This weight allowance varies by RANK.(Ex. As a SGT/E5 with Dependents(family), he/she is normally allowed 9000lbs of goods for travel. For travel to Korea, he/she is only allowed 4500lbs.)
ALSO, travel is DEFERRED! Your Military Spouse will travel to Korea FIRST! Usually within 60 days his/her family follows. This allows the Soldier to in-process into his/her new unit, and then settle into a new apartment and also to receive his/her Housing Goods. When the family shows up(usually less than 60 days later) the house/apartment and daily schedule will be an easy transition.
ALSO, if you the spouse, has a Bachelors Degree, there are plenty of TEACHING ENGLISH as a SECOND LANGUAGE positions. As a English teacher you will most likely work 20-30 hours per week, earning $1900-$2000 a month. Knowing the Korean language isn't expected or desired.
AREA 1(CAMP CASEY), will have childcare and all the amenities of a traditional Army instillation by November 2010.(lets hope this timeline sticks)
FINALLY, consider Korea a safer, friendlier, and quite possibly more enjoyable American big city...without the English :)

my husband's report date was changed from mar 10 to apr 10 and by then we should be ready to go with him. i have 2 children and im due in may with our 3rd, which is the only reason that we r trying to get out there as quickly as possible! anyways, my question is where did ur wife stay while u were inprocessing? i need to get my daughter enrolled in school and go to dr appts. did u have to pay for the lodging til u found a place since u went together? im kinda all over the place with questions...but, i just wanna be somewhat settled b4 i have this baby!!!!:)

My wife stayed at our appartment. We got 10 days to find a place and get settled before I started inprocessing.

Dependent travel is only defered if the soldier chooses for it to be. My Wife traveled with me. The soldier will be locked down on Camp Stanley for inprocessing if in 2ID for the first two weeks so in some ways it may be better for the family to wait until the soldier finishes his/her inprocessing, but they get 10 days to find housing and get settled before they start inprocessing if their families travel with them.
Your absolutely correct, I completely forgot about being given the option to choose deferred or not.

Andi,

My husband got his cell phone from a vendor there at the PX. It is a prepaid type of cell phone where you can buy Korean minutes and US minutes. It seems to be pretty good =)

i have been looking online on that world realty website. im nervous there wont be many left!! im just totally nervous about everything, tho!! ha ha! im very excited, too! my situation was kinda weird...we found out about korea last summer. but, they didnt tell my husband about a levy briefing that he was sposed to attend, so our paperwork didnt even get started til nov. then with the holidays....more wait! he was sposed to report march 10 and i was just planning on staying here, cuz we hadnt heard anything. then feb. 11th we got approved! i kno there is a website that u can check the progress of ur approval. he has a meeting with transportation on monday. so, im hoping we will get our plane tickets! he now has to report april 10th. im HOPING that we will all be ready to go together! have u already been approved? im sorry to babble...but, im still kinda floating along!!!! do u have to send off for ur passport? we had ours expedited and had to pay for them ourselves. it only took about 2 weeks and we were scared the passport thing would hold us up...so, it was worth it! wow, have i been any help!!!! heh heh!:)

World Meridan are nice apartments but they are really filled up. We live in Viva Family which is basically the same as World Meridan but right outside Gate 2 at Camp Casey and the Dongducheon train station is right there as well. Viva Family is still being built. So there are still units here. We went to Komerican realty. I'm not sure if they have a website but they were super nice and helpful. Any questions you want to ask email me at [email protected] bc i probably wont check this again. write korea in the subject line so i can get it from the junk mail

We signed for the apartment on 1 May and got a delivery date of HHG No later than 19 July if that helps you at all.

My advice is to have your travel from the airport to "home" figured out in advance. Decide if your going to take the taxi (not a good choice with baggage and the distance), train (again not a real good choice with a lot of luggage), or the bus and what exact route you are going to take and how long is the wait time in between buses!

PS-Hello everyone, we have been at Camp Casey for about a month now and live in Viva Family :) I know some of you are right here and I just don't know to go meet you! lol
