This man is a complete JOKE as a doc but unfortuanately it is hard to get a MD license revoked. He has a hx of fondling his pts but many don't speak up because of being labeled a drugseeker or just trying to get a check.
And I made the mistake of being referred to him for WC injury but after his inappropriate behavior and misdx I went to another MD but it was a long battle.
And before any lewd comments are made no I was not looking to sign up on disbality or oxys - simplely to be able to continue in a job I loved.
I'm sure if it was your wife or daughter and she was treated this way you guys would not be defending this jerk.
And just becasue he is a doc doesn't mean he is a good person.

Just the way a couple of things look to me.
1. He's been in practice a long time according to Healthgrades, and doesn't appear to have had any sanctions.
2. This person seems to be mad at him because he diagnosed her as having a "pre-existing" condition. So this probably means she was claiming Worker's Comp or Disability and when he did this it made her ineligible for the free ride.
3. "I'm gonna sue"!! Of course. If you don't get your money from disability, then clearly there's only one alternative.
4. I would bet that the visit he "groped" her, she did not make a scene and scream for help from the staff. That makes any kind of lawsuit pretty weak.
5. Taking a major issue like sexual abuse by a licensed professional anonymously to a discussion board is the height of chickenshit. You can name his name, but not your own. Coward.
6. People that come on here to smear a business / professional, always have a friend that "swears" they are right. Does the Doc have anyone that "swears" he is right? Yeah, probably.
7. My guess is that most people would not know how to even BEGIN a legitimate complaint to a "board". This is obvious because you would probably start at the state level for such a serious charge as sexual harassment. Certainly, you would call law enforcement for that.
8. Board certifications are great, but many do not bother. In these days of directed network participation, physicians just don't have to compete for business the way they used to.
This guy could either be the best or worst physician in Tennessee and you would never know from Topix!
Healthgrades is a JOKE because I did do research on him but after being seen by him I did get an attorney to file an appeal because
I found out he was not board certified (it does make a big difference becasue I got a second opinion because his certification was taken away due to messing up on surgeries). Usually, WC will not pay for 2nd opinions.
Like the original poster, I could have easily sued him for his conduct and his improper care but its no worth the energy and time.
Not trying to start a hot debate with you but it is hard to find out info on a doc due to privacy laws.
Just becasue a person gets hurt at work does not mean they are out to get a settlement or drugs - it can happen to anyone.
So before you got o any MD for any reason call their office and ask if they are board certified or any malpractive suits against them.

take it to an attorney then.
you're just making a whining azz out of yourself here.
this isn't the place to be bringing shyt like this.
because CH is right, we don't care about it.
and spare us the, "you'll be sorry" line of reasoning.
it's sue happy, pizz ant patients like you who help make the cost of healthcare unaffordable for those of us who aren't looking to sue just because you don't leave a doctors office able to perform athletic feats that your fat azz couldn't perform before you went in to see him.
if you had a sac to begin with, you'd have knocked the livin' shyt outta him if you thought you'd been unprofessionally groped.
Healthcare is in the shape its in becasue of shitty docs like him. You are right, there are alot of pts that abuse the system but thare are ones like me that want proper medical care and he does not provide that.
I think many women are afraid to stand up against a man becasue of the attitude of she either liked it or wanted $$. It's so hard to file a sexual ahrrassment suit becasue it is a 'he said, she said'.
And if she was really wanting oxys, then I'm sure she could have went to a pain clinic and gotten all she wanted.

There are sure some nuts here. The Doctor is a quack. I'm not guessing, I know. I am reminded with each limping step I take.

I would recommend him ,he knew exactly what was wrong with me. I need a hip replacement he seen me 15 years ago and suggested for me to go as long as I could. I went in 3 weeks ago thinking I need a replacement. If he was all about the insurance money he would have done it,but that was not my problem a couple shots fixed my problem he said I have awhile before replacement.

Ok if you don't feel comfortable or feel he is not certified ,then dont go.
I'm sure your employment, Oh if you have a job ,has other Dr's available on the list so feel free to get as many opinions as you need,as you should. At the end of the day tthe decision is yours,as it should be. Why don't you take your own Inventory before you take someone else's...
Oh yeah he did operate on me and I'm back in working order. Hope all goes the same for you.

First of all, glad you are doing good. Now, in most cases, you can get a second opinion but in workmans' comp cases you cannot. I did not care about a big settlement nor about pills but I was not treated rightly and the only way I was able to get a second opinion was by obtaining an attorney to appeal labor board for a second opinion and I did get one. Took forever. Relief to know my proper diagnosis and receive proper care. I did not sue Dr Degnan personally not because I had no case (I did) but I just wanted to get on wth my life.
He is no longer on the insurance panal (list of 4 doctrs you can look at and chose when injured) not only because of my case but several others there were issues with. Some of the cases were worse than mine but I can't reveal due to theor privacy.
By the way, I was not shown the list of MDs rather employee health referred me to him. I did not know until after his care his board certification was gone. I will again caution anyone, if you get hurt, get the list and do research since very difficult to get second opinions from WC. Hard to find out much with privacy laws but call the MD office to see if any ossues with license and if board certification.

As for your concern about my employment, I've continued working and the digs about getting my own inventory together, if he had did his job none of the would have happened but I fought and got a second opinion. The attitude just get another MD is not that easy in WC cases.

If you think you get to choose your doctor when you have a work injury, you are not fully informed.

Workman's comp doctor's are paid to not find a work-related injury, and your regular health insurance will not cover a work-related injury because it is not their financial responsibility. If it is a non-profit, they need to not spend money that could/should go to others enrolled in their medical plan, and if it is a for-profit enterprise, that money should go to share holders.

And while the haggling goes on over who should pay, many people suffer crippling complications that render them unable to work.

I just wonder how many this quack has messed up?? And yes its true all he wants to do is grope a woman and ask personal questions. He's a piece of work. Due to his ignorance I am unable to work. He neglected doing his job and several times I smelled alcohol on his breath. It was WC case but I did go to court to get a second opinion. Dr Ivy is great Dr. And whatever happened bout the underage boys Degnan left at his house drinking and they got out and wrecked his vehicle?? This is not gossip it was on the news!!

Dr. Degnan was my second option. The first doctor treated me like a paycheck. Dr. Degnan assessed and did what needed to be done. He didn't treat me like anything but a friend. I had no stress and no worry. I have recommended him to everyone. Nothing calmed my fears better than his bedside manner. My fiancÚ was pleased with him, as well. Amazing care, amazing doctor. Period.
