Amazing that students sat there and allowed it to happen. I know my kid has gotten in trouble for standing up for smaller and weaker kids being picked on, no way he woul dstand by and allow that to happen. WHat the heck are we doing to teach our kids better?

I remember not too long ago the one kid that got beat up on the bus so bad got suspended for fighting because of a no tolerance rule in Knox County. It wouldnt surprise me if the girl gets suspended for not being able to stop him herself.

I hope she comes out all right and gets the counciling she well need.

Why did the other students not stop anything going on here? Where is the integrity and sense of right and wrong with some of our youths today? This is insane that something like this would happen IN PUBLIC, with the young girl asking, probably PLEADING for help from others sitting around her. And based on this article, NO ONE helped her. Also, if you can hear the girl's voice on the tape, how did the driver not hear her and intervene? This is disgusting and this young man should be punished to the fullest extent of the law b/c he obviously has no regard for others' privacy, feelings, and any sense of right or wrong. He is clearly a bully and is morally disgusting!!!

Just wondering where in the world was the bus driver? Aren't they suppose to be protecting the kids, and why didn't some of the other kids not try and help?

It is hard to believe that young people on the bus didn't try to help this young girl or report it to the bus driver immediately. I think they all need to be charged with something appropriate for not stopping the assault. There is no excuse when other people don't help someone in need.

Nobody attempted to stop nor did any student report. Simply disgusting!

You can only imagine what some children go through that numbs them to such violence.

Whemp Mr. Stover... guess you're gonna see what's it's like to be raped and nobody reports it...

I have 2 young boys. One, if they ever consider this, then they won't have to worry about prison time...I take care of them myself. Second, I will certainly teach them to stand up for others. Someone, please tell me I am missing something...where the H*EL was the bus driver? I say send his butt to the unemployment line.

There is so much wrong with this. Where's the bus driver? Why didn't the other kids help or get help? Fifteen minutes unsupervised? If I was this girls mother I would bring charges against all of these people, not just the 18 year old. What was wrong with these "big chicken" kids. If my child set back and let something like this happen and I found out about it they would be in big trouble with me. And this bus driver would be carrying an --- whipping as well.

I would like to hear more details of the story but I think it's a safe bet that if it were my daughter assaulted, I would never be eligible for a carry concealed permit.

Just saw on another news site that the bus driver says he didn't see or hear anything due to the ongoing talking, laughter, and cutting up that normally goes on. He also said she stopped to tell him that she was groped and not to let the attacker know it was her that reported it. He never reported it and when asked why he didn't responded by saying, "Who would I report it to? I don't have my supervisors phone number." When asked why he didn't report it to the police, he said, "Well, she didn't say she was raped. She seemed scared, but otherwise calm." Make all the excuses you want, the bus driver needs to be on the outlook for this stuff and report it when it is not so obvious. Also, I can see the other kids being intimidated by this 18-year old attacker, but they should have acted together to stop this, as it should have been obviously wrong.

I think that cameras on the buses are a good thing. Unfortunately this instance needed that tape to get the girl the right proof that she needed to back her story. Sorry for you young lady and thanks for the cameras.

Wow. What an ordeal. The bus driver is certainly at fault for not helping the girl that trusted him to help her. But as for the fellow students on the bus that did nothing--I am torn; Only because I remember how I was as a middle schooler on a bus full of highschoolers. It is quite intimidating. Now, if there were more highschoolers on the bus that saw everything--i suppose that would be different. I say that because by the time i got to highschool, I became invincible in my mind.

That is exactly what I was thinking - 15 MINUTES!! My gosh, maybe all the others should be charged as accessories - someone could have told the bus driver on the way off the bus!! My goodness!!

Why did the bus driver not help the child? Could the bus driver not hear her cry for help? I feel that the bus driver is guilty for not helping the young girl!

First off, they should throw that STUPID busdriver in the cell right along with the one that did the raping and then bring "good ole Bubba" in for a few hours to spend some quality time with them and let them "both" see how it feels to be raped. I simply can't believe that this happened on a bus where our children are SUPPOSED to be safe. The way this old cruel world is getting, nothing should surprise me. It truly makes a person want to take their children into a cave and keep them there until they are adults........
