I worked there from 92 to 96. Great place. Marvin was the cooler. We had some great times with the velcro pygmies and tall paul. Lots of other really talented bands. Pf course there was always drama but we always managed to keep our cool and keep the beer flowing and the music jumpin. Good times indeed.

Hey day of the lap was 70s to about 1982. Great memories. Best hang-out place ever. Any word on bringing the Last Lap back to Cumberland, Jim? Would love for you to have some old bartenders like myself come back for a guest run behind the bar.

Some place called Whiskey Dicks was there, but I believe it has closed down. Rumor is that Jim England may open another version of the Lap on the Strip, but haven't heard anything about it lately.

I remember going to vic and Bill's accross the street from The Lap in the early eighties when I was fifteen or sixteen. We would go down to Cherokee blvd park area and get high and toss the frisbee around and sit in the sun then come up to V&Bs for a few frosty mugs of Hams beer.....for fifty cents a pop.
Later on, I once ordered a shot of jaeger for myself and a pretty lady sitting next to me at the bar at The Lap. It was the first time I had tried it and I spit some of it on the poor girl. She slapped me and began cursing and the bartender nicely suggested I leave.

Good times.

Anybody remember names of some of the hot girls from the Lap in the late 1970s?

I had a lot of good times at the Lap from 1991-1996. I think it closed in the mid to late 1996. Too bad. Not many places around now that were around 15-20 years ago... The Strip changes often. I remember an old ladies house where Chili's was built and eating at the Torch restaurant at the top of the strip.

I knew a coward then and I know one now. I never said I didn't like the women. Had my share. The bouncers were cowards who ganged up on and beat up drunks. They never touched me. I'm not the only one who knows this. I was around from 1979 to about '85. Maybe you knew different guys. The ones in those years were exactly as I said.
I loved the lap, frequented the place, but he's right about the jerk bouncers. "I bench 360, dude." Hilarious. Glad you accomplished so much.

Dirt, Mary Beth, Susan W., Kathy H., Marie, and many whose names I've long forgotten. Wish I could go back.

Although it seems like a lifetime ago when it was my usual haunt , what places are worth going to on the Strip nowadays?
