Just a little FYI - I'm probably not saying anything that people don't already know, but just in case... here's how to easily and legally add pictures from the web to Topix articles:
1. Get a flickr account.( http://www.flickr.com/ )
2. Go to advance search by first clicking on "Search" and then "Advanced Search". A large (more than two screens) search page comes up.( http://www.flickr.com/search/advanced/ )
3. Type in keywords to get desired photos. You might want to look for Knoxville specific pics by adding the word "Knoxville" to your keyword search - for example, I got the picture of the Knoxville storm (7-21-08) by using keywords "Knoxville storm".
4. Go to the very bottom of the advance search page where the following two checkboxes MUST be marked "True" (be checked):
a. Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content
b. Find content to use commercially
As long as your picture conforms to parts 4a and 4b, there will be no problem.
Of course, there is also the option of taking your own pictures and adding them to the site, if they're relevant.
Anyway, I just wanted to write this because I do think the site looks better with pictures and am trying to use more myself. And it is pretty easy.
