Why are there two guys on Kingston Pike with a big banner that says "SHAME ON FOOD CITY"? They are camped out on the front lawn of Food City across from Rafferty's.

Its Union stuff probably.
Theyre probably making about 60K a year. You see them all over the place at different times. Ive seen them at banks, credit unions, hospitals.

Maybe they are doing what OONGAWA used to do, Community Organizing?(extortion)

Food city is no different than China mart (walmart) There crying about the loss of money in all their stores, So they cut the worker hours and raised the price of Food and Gas to make up for their need of Greed. How can food city be losing money when their buying up smaller store buildings and companys ? Foodcity just opened their 100th store a couple of months ago.

As a insider of foodcity, alot of shady dealings goes on behind closed doors. One thing about it their about to price there self out-of-business.

Food City is horrible to their employees, and an awful place to shop. You can't go near there the first of the month for all of the welfare crowd. I know a girl who was fired from the pharmacy for failing to scan a baked potato, she was treated like a criminal and escorted to her car... it was ridiculous. SHAME ON YOU FOOD CITY!!

Not to mention all the money Food City makes peddling dope in Bearden! Yes, that's right, peddling dope. Their RX dept fills ALL the prescriptions from Bearden Pain Clinic. Food city Bearden is the LARGEST seller of OxyContin / oxycodone in the state of Tennessee!

You proudly-ignorant rednecks...kissing massa's ass while he laughs at you all the way to his offshore, tax-free bank.
When are you idiots going to learn that unions serve one purpose: to fight for workers' rights...even cretins who'd prefer to shoot themselves in the foot, like you.
When you're ready to take your head out of massa's ass and breathe the fresh air of workplace democracy, give your local union a call; they'll be glad to hear from you.

Or how about standing for yourself and not paying someone 1 to do it. Unions are as crooked as it comes. All the want is your union dues and dont really care about the people they represent

I've heard of some sort of Union with Kroger, but never with Food City.I won't bash them bc I may need a job there again one day,but I didn't agree with a lot of things when I worked there.I was always on time, never once called in,and never had any write ups or anything.I started as a 14 yr old making $5.50 and after 3 yrs only made $6.09 when new jock and cleavage-showing high schoolers were getting hired on for $7.(By the way,I was an average female not ugly according to anyone there, had the stuff chest wise, just chose not to display it.)

All that to say,I could understand people not feeling like they are being treated right there. And about the potato thing..when the store I was at got uscans, you would not believe the amount of thing that were walked out of the store because the attendants were too busy doing everything but their job...

Mary,
They jacked up prices for "greed"? Does not sound very competitive, unless they decided that Fresh Market is their competition, rather than Walmart/Sams/Kroger/Ingles.
They cut employees hours? Staffing coverage too, or just fewer workers and hours? Might make sense if they decided to cut volume by jacking up prices and driving business to everybody else.
Are you sure you know what you are talking about in your post? I mean anything you posted, not just the nonsense I responded to.
