Mine was screwed all day. Whenever I tried to call someone's cell phone I got that message in the article, however, I was able to call land line phones just fine.

I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT THEY ARE GIVING A CREDIT. I WAS UNABLE TO MAKE OR RECIEVE ANY CALLS TODAY.

US Cellular has the best service and value. Just compare what you have to people with Verizon, Singular(AT&T) or any of the others! Yes I was affected down here in Tellico Plains and thought my phone was going bad. My phone worked only intermittantly Saturday. You all... just calm down or go ahead and change carriers and get some dropped calls!

There was a small fire at a US Cellular switching station Saturday morning, and service was down while the equipment that failed was replaced.

Weird that a TV station couldn't find that out.

I realize this can and does happen to every cellular service out there. That is why I will stick with US Cellular for now. But.....

They sent a text message saying the system was down. GREAT....The system is down, I didn't get that message until 9:30pm when my service was restored. Umm, great job....not!

Can we have a reality check for just a minute? I am a US Cellular customer too, but is not like we lost electricity or some vital function for a day. Are we all so spoiled that we have to act indignant because our phones didn't work for one day? C'mon, people, grow up a little...

This is not a perfect world and "stuff" happens - even to cell phone service. I was inconvenienced for a few hours, but gee whiz, there was a time when we all lived very nicely without cell phones and we got along just great!

I'm happy to know their customer service is generous enough to offer good will minutes to compensate us for our temporary lapse of service. Perhaps that will keep folks from "jumping ship" and going to another carrier. I've priced them all and still feel like US Cellular has the best service and value.

I've been a loyal customer for probably 10 or more years and have no intention of making any changes.

I realize things happen. But it really affected my day by happening like it did. I was supposed to meet someone for a very important business meeting. I had called and left a message on his voice mail the night before to give him directions. Of course he couldn't access is voicemeail all day Saturday.I couldn't reach him as we both have US Cellular. He had no way to contact me, as I was in a meeting all morning and could only be reached via cell (which wasn't taking calls) I didn't get the text from US Cell until about 11:45 a.m. Which was way past time for us to meet. Both of my kids were out of town and had no way to call me all day. My phone was down from 6am until about 7 pm Saturday. It really interuppted alot of business for me and created a headache. I know they cannot help what happened, but they should have had a back up plan in place. Our first call to them was at 6 a.m. With technology what it is I see no reason for a 12 hour downtime on cell service. Alot of businesses are ran on cell phones now.
If it really was as the poster above stated and due to a facility fire, then that should be acknowledged and again a plan of action should be in place to back up the network.

Who cares??? what did everybody do before cell phones anyway??? Cell phones are for sissies. If you can't function without your cell... sounds like you might need group therapy.

Well my service was also down. I have a small bussiness and have 35 phones using US.Cellular while it did hurt us for being unable to use are phones for a day we will recover. This in no-way indangered any lived being 911 was still working and you could still call land-lines. AT&T will market this bigtime if they are smart. I still love US. CELLULAR and have used them for over 10 years now and won't change over this. I will be inrested in how much credit they give us over this and I would like to see them put intplace a back up measure in case this happens again

OMG no cell phone service! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Seriously, calm down people. Your world is not going to end because you had no service for a few hours. Haven't you ever heard of a land line? Or has that word been taken out of the dictionary? Jen are really trying to say that you were in a meeting in an office building and there were zero land lines? No secretary to knock on the door and say, "Jen, you have a call." I'm not really buying that.

I have US cellular service and live in knoxville and I was completely able to place and receive calls all day, except for an hour span around 3pm. I got all my text messages on time.

I had to dial the area code and it may have been busy the first time I placed a call but it would go through the second time, big whoop stuff happens.

US Cellular is the best. The outage yesterday, while a bit inconvenient, was resolved. Their customer service was great during this incident and has always been such in the past. At least they took the time to send text messages to their customers advising of the issue. Do you think Sprint or Verizon would do such??? Life goes on and it is another day. Be grateful for that.

I UNDERSTAND THAT MANY PEOPLE WERE INCONVIENCED AND IT RUINED SOME PEOPLE'S DAY BUT WE ARE AT THE MERCY OF OUR MACHINES!! TECHNOLOGY IS A WONDERFUL THING BUT WE HAVE TO TAKE THE GOOD WITH THE BAD. AND NOW THAT THE CRISIS IS OVER, BE THANKFUL THAT EVERYONE IS GETTING A CREDIT ON THEIR BILL. AND REMEMBER THIS: NO MATTER HOW BAD THINGS ARE GOING FOR YOU THINGS CAN ALWAYS GET WORSE AND THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE OUT IN THE WORLD WHO HAS IT HARDER AND ROUGHER THAN YOU DO!! THINKING THAT WAY ALWAYS HELPS ME GET THROUGH A TOUGH PROBLEM AND A HARD DAY, SO MAYBE IT WILL HELP MANY OF YOU, TOO!!

Because I've had their service for around eight years and I keep giving them chance after chance--hoping that they'll improve. They haven't and it's time to move on.
