People like you are doing shit except for running your mouth off. Have you ever seen what kind of suffering is going on over there? Are you trying to tell me that some dumbass American that more than likely made their own suffering can compare to Darfur? This nation has got it made and this is one American that knows it and understands that something beyond nationality, language, tribal mindset is going on here. The world cries out and quite frankly, God is watching to see if there are those who will intervene in this crisis. Why don't you take a one-way ticket to get-the-hell-out-of-here-and-s tay-gone?
Amazing post. People who are truly suffering in America have options to help them out such as the soup kitchen, ymca, HUD housing, churches, battered women shelters, etc... Whereas the people in Darfur have nowhere to turn.

Black Hawk Down, tells the story of a botched military operation that had then President Clinton went in full force and thrashed them that shot down that plane would have opened up an opportunity to help those who are suffering in this world. Suffering that is not about your cell phone not working but about people dying every day. Sending in troops with shoot to kill orders and those troops guarding the supplies will get said supplies to those who need it. You can thank your former President's, the gutless UN, and the pansy US Congress for not setting down Rules of Engagement that would have gotten the job done right.
Joey, Joey, Joey, PLEASE move to Darfur and SAVE them all, since you seem to THINK you know everything.

Wikipedia reports between 200,000 and 400,000 dead. The exact number is not known.

Mat is the teacher. Joey is one of the people who are defending the noble actions of a bunch of tenth graders trying to make a difference in the world against a group of people who are exercising the right to free speech by condemning these kids for trying to make the world a better place. God Bless America! One of the few places I know of where kids can try to make a difference, and others, hiding behind computers, can tell them they're wasting time.

I thank those of you who have written positive comments about our cause...And even to those who have given their opinions that were refered to as negative.
I hadn't even heard of Darfur until Mr. Pennington told our class. I had no clue that such a thing would be allowed to go on and no one take any action. I know that there are unfortunate people in our own community, but the Darfur cause is what we are taking action upon. That doesn't mean that any of you can't take action in America.
We aren't telling you what to do with your money, we're just telling you what we're doing with ours. What you do is up to you. If you don't want to donate to Darfur, fine, find another cause to donate your money to. Just do something...Anything for the good of others.

To all of you people who are saying, "Screw Darfur":
You people obviously have no idea what is going on over there! Maybe you should go watch a few videos on Darfur. If you aren't touched by them, then you have no heart AT ALL!
Not to mention, people in America get a chance to provided for themselves and get an opportunity to make something of yourself. The people over there don't! I don't understand why you people are being so selfish. People in America don't appreciate what people do for them anyways! Please people, HELP STOP THE GENOCIDE!

Excellent point. The people of East Tennessee have never, not once, not ever, in any way, form, fashion, ever suffered on the scale that they are suffering in Darfur, not even during the Civil War was there this much suffering. Fact is that what drives the negative comments on here are racist, un-American, un-Christian, and driven by hate for others and a narrow-mindedness of seeing the world in terms of skin color/language use/nationality. It is that simple and for those against what a group of high school students are doing to alleviate suffering in this world demonstrates a coldness and callousness of heart that shows nothing but hate and selfishness. Thus, for those students doing this work, you keep right on doing it and do it with pride. Most of us living in East Tennessee have our faults but we are aware that attempting to alleviate suffering is a good thing and we do not see it in such racist terms as what we have seen posted on this Board by those against the good work of these students.

Is this 'Darfur' another name for 'illegals'??

Are the kids sending their pennies to Mexico to combat global warming???

Just as an update for all those interested. We're over a fourth of the way towards our goal. We're doing great, but we always appreciate more help. Like the newscast says, if you'd like to help our class please send your pennies (or other forms of currency) to Heritage High School / Mr. Pennington's class. Thanks to so many who've helped us this far!

What a loser post. Why bother to post if you are going to insult the work of these students, insult the suffering of those in Darfur, Sudan? In fact, why don't you just get off the Internet if this is the best you can do?

Thank you everyone who supports our class! We have worked so hard and your encouraging comments are helping us to keep striving towards our goal.
For those who do not support us and think that it should go to Mexico for border control or whatever else you think it should go to: you can donate to whatever foundation or cause you want it to. But just because we felt like these suffering people needed this money more than most Americans do, don't condem us for doing the right thing! If you want to donate $4,000 to the White House, go ahead! But don't tell us to help in "your backyard" because it seems to me like you're not doing anything about it yourself.
Thank you again for the support and encouragement!

We are trying to kill muslim terrorists. Who do you think is killing defenseless women and children in darfur?

A fence to secure the border is an UnAmerican as it gets people. Do you not remember Reagan's "tear down this wall" speech in Berlin? If you are that worried about the border then we need to send the US Army there since that is what they are for anyhow. Building a fence is so far removed from anything American, that I am wholly confident that you have not once in your life ever read the Constitution. Try it, you might learn what it means to be an American!
And you are really a teacher? Do you indoctrinate your kids in this liberal diatribe crap? There is a huge difference between a fence to keep people in and a fence to control one's border to allow you to control/monitor who gets in.

Are you teaching the kids about the arab muslim jajaweed who are committing this genocide with the complete support of the corrupt government? Are you teaching them that the only this could have occurred is that the corrupt government outlawed citizens to own weapons and then supplied the terrorists with many weapons? Are you teaching them how just a handful of men can kill an entire village of innocent people with machetes if they are unarmed? Or, is this another feel-good exercise to create some more future lemming liberal democrats?
