I found it difficult to find the local broadcast of Meet the Press this morning on WBIR channel 10. Is it not normally aired as in the rest of the nation?

Isn't that the section that was done by the guy at the station that died? If so they may not do it for a couple of days. From watching the news this morning and the interview they done with his son they all loved him very much and he was a big part of the station SO it may not be on for a day or so.

MTP was on and it dropped format due to the death of Tim.

Big question is WHO should replace him?

Not a clue here...who do you think?

Surely not Andrea Mitchell, after her recent comment about Virginians being hillbillies. Why not let Tom Brokaw do it in the interim? I don't know of anyone else at NBC who is in Tim's league.

Those that know the guy say he wants to do LESS than more! Remember his home is way out west not in D.C. and it would really be hard for him to hang in that town all week working on the show when he could have been catching fish!

As for whatserface... Andrea...man they are working her to dang death. She is on MSNBC early and late and out covering junk mid dang day.

Best just shut down the show, tim was in and they don't have anyone who even comes close to the guy.

I know Tom is "retired" but he does special assignments. Remember when Dan Rather "retired" (translation: got caught falsifying a story about the President) over at CBS and Bob Shieffer filled in for him until CBS shot itself in the foot and named Katie Couric as permanent anchor?(BTW, I'm not sexist - I'm female, too - just don't think Katie has the chops to be an evening news anchor. She's a good interviewer, but not a newsperson.) Bob did a great job and should have gotten the job permanently, but I understand he didn't want it.

Axing the show permanently probably isn't an option, since it's so highly rated and has been on the air so long. I tend to agree with you though, Walker, that maybe that's the best thing to do, and then launch some brand new show with a slightly different format. It would be a great tribute to Tim. Wish they had done that over at CBS with "The Price is Right"!

I heard on CNN that Keith Olberman and Chris Matthews were considered top contenders as Tim's replacement. What do you think of that? I don't think either of them is a good fit.

What exactly are numbnuts? You seem to like repeating that word over and over again.

I'm not happy with WBIR's web site any more. I used to get to Topix from there, now they have their own forum and you have to register for it.

Also, the menus on their web site are awful. To get different parts of the weather you have to use the drop-down menu and it's flaky. I'm not handicapped, but if I was, I'd have a real hard time getting those drop-downs to work right. Not at all a user-friendly interface.
