This was in The Mountain Press today.
Last year my dad was there and he fell and recieved a large cut on his arm that would have needed stitches. They left him unattended all day without any
care to his arm. Blood was left on the floor, end table and his clothes till we got there at 6pm.
The thing is we did our research on this place and there were no reports of neglect.
But what we saw there were many cases of neglect. There just wasn't any family members there visiting long enough to see their loved ones were getting the right treatment.
Elderly don't have the ability to complain to the authority's.

"I thank God we were able to be there every day with him."

Research is very important but what is even more important is unexpected visits at differant times of day and evening.
I hope Mrs.Pierce's family find peace and justice for what happened to their mother.

I'm am so sorry to hear of these issues in this nursing home. It turns my stomach to think that people would intentionally act like that. I am a nurse in a nursing home in Ohio and I have never heard of these types of things happening in my facility. I do know that one thing that will help protect your family members is to play a very active role in their care and to show up at all times of the day and on different days. This will help to keep the staff on their toes. If you see and issue, ask for it to be addressed. If it is not addressed take it to the Board of Health or the state ombudsman. They can help. Again, I am so sorry for your problems and mistreatment of you family.

I have had 2 families at the pigeon forge cre and rehab and they recieved the best care. The staff is extreammly helpful and caring. They take residents out int he community and go out to activites. My mother was there for 4 months, when she arrived she was unable to walk and have a huge infection. She walked out of the facility and doing great now. I seriously doubt that duck tape was used. I also want to add, go to nursinghomecompare.com and look at the other two homes in the area. One got 17 violations from the state survey, PF had 3. Even the one at the hospial had more. Just wanted to add to the conversation.

When we did our research we also saw that the reviews were good, but the bottom line is that the facility is only as good as the caregivers decide to make it.
The neglect comes from individual workers, not the nursing homes overall care. They should have had unscheduled checks on the workers to catch the negligent ones. They were admittedly always understaffed.
Sometimes a nursing home just gets a group of insensitive workers and the nursing home suffers the consiquences.

Well Iam here to tell you that everything that they are saying about this nursing home is true and yes the residents are neglected there how do i know cause i used to be a former employee there and i could not take it anymore and if you look at there state inspection report this year they had 22 violations and they are also on the state watch list where they have cause actual harm to residents if you want that information go to memberofthefamily.net and click on the state of tenn and go to pigeon forge care and see for yourself i hope this family is able to get the peace they deserve do research before you give this place praise if people are smart they would be taking there family members out of there

As to my prior statement, my husband reminded me of an incident. I did in fact witness something when I first started to work there. I had troubles with one CNA who had a bad attitude with the residents there. I told my boss, who then brushed it off. Then, one day I heard (did not see) a resident crying in her room with the door closed.(As a housekeeper I could not go into a room with a closed door). Then all of a sudden the door flung open and the CNA shoved the resident out of the room in her wheelshair violently. The resident's head actually slung around like a doll. I went to comfort the resident and the CNA told me to "mind my own business." The resident told me that she had been "roughed up." So, I went to my boss. My boss then went to her boss, and I was inetrviewed in a little room by the head charge nurse. A report was taken and filed with the CNA's employee file. She was "given a good talking to" and nothing else was done. From that day forward, I was ignored, called names, and abused by other CNA's on that wing (A wing). They would acually leave linens on the floor covered in BM so that I would have to clean and sanitze the whole floor. I asked to be transfered to the other wing (B wing) and the abuse stopped. I left the facilty about a year after that to get my CNA degree. So, Afetr reading these alligations and thinking back, I now see a possiblity. I think I blocked it out because I eventually went to work for a wonderful company who loved their residents dearly.

The allegations that surfaced in the past few days are absolutely horrifying. I will not repeat them here but they are documented in The Mountain Press. Dear God in Heaven what next for the elder population? As though it wasn't bad enough, the patients that were "abused" were in part, alzheimers patients!

My father was there the year these horific things were taking place. I heard there's a way to find out if your family member had been victomized. If you know anything about this please let me know!

I never got the chance to see this articil, do you know of a link that would take me there?

This is supposed to be the link to The Mountain Press. You may have to sign in/register to get the entire article but it is free and you could read the other articles about it. This link was front page headlines I think in today's paper. It was either today's or Monday's.

I was a nurse at this nursing home for 2 1/2 years. There was rarely enough CNAs to care for the patients and even when there was enough, most of them were very lazy and spent more time on breaks than actually helping people. I personally reported abusive aides and afterwards I also received ill treatment from the aides as well as the DON and ADON who did not want to see or believe what I was saying. I really cared for my patients and loved my job until I just couldn't tolerate any more. I have not worked there for several years now but I do know some of the people that got in trouble and I am not surprised. I am very embarrassed now to have been associated with that place.
