You sound like the stupid one. The death penalty has never been a deterrent to commit crimes. The murder rate in states with the death penalty is no more lower than ones with no death penalty. You are a tool if you think the death penalty will keep people from committing murder.

So, let me throw this out here. A church cannot be considered a church, and is instead a "cult" because it's not bibically based as you believe it should be? Kind of an ignorant statement, don't you think?

No, sounds like a normal statement to me. Anything non-biblical is a cult.

You see, you're a victim of years of desensitization and now you are confused.

Be nice, folks. Unitarians are united by the belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every person. After that, they break into many groups - Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, pagan, humanist, etc., all drawing wisdom from holy writings from all religions.
Sermons often center on biblical subjects, but sometimes do not. It is a good, intellectually satisfying, spiritually fulfilling faith.
For anyone to defend a killer barging in to a service is abhorrent. When Jesus said "Love thy neighbor" he didn't mean to kill them.
I'm not judging but don't Universalists condone gay couples and marriages? This, in itself could cause problems with people on the edge of sanity. Things in the world are changing too fast for some.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The news yesterday said he was a long time member of that fellowship.
The fellowship is NOT CHRISTIAN and you can never say it was conservative!
Before people shoot their mouths off they should really know what they are talking about.
First of all they call themselves a "fellowship" not church.

I've been to this "church" They believe everything and nothing.
You can pray to a tree, yourself, what ever catches your fancy.
Every time I have been invited to attend it was more a Bash Bush session.
In my estimation the "fellowship" really should be called a political action committee.
During the service they passed around a impeach George Bush petitions and collect money for protests.
"At the service Monday, which included candle-lighting and speeches by church leaders, the children came out singing, The sun will come out tomorrow," a line from the signature song in the musical "Annie."

HUMANISM not Christianity!
They no doubt lite incense and bonged a bong.

Speeches form church leader?

Lectures from the fellowship on how Bush is the blame for all this violence.
According to the news today they said the shooter was a long time attendee.
The fellowship is not CHRISTIAN!!!!!!!

When ever a so called "christian" church calls another Christian church a "cult" I'am reminded of
those who seek the splinter in anothers eye but fails to find the log in his own.
Your rush to want to execute this Neo-Con, hate-filled, religious fanatic makes me wonder why.
Could it be that he'll "spill the beens" on born-again bible-thumpers who are looking for a political kingdom on earth.
I recommend that you seek a sleep study clinic.

Thanks , you confirmed my fact on this "fellowship". It's a cult. They are just a clan of people pushing anything and everything that feels good. Anything that will eventually further the mission of destruction which is anything outside of God's Biblical standings. No wonder the country is in total chaos with groups of people like this and those who post things that agree with them.

Guess you forgot about all the "You can't be a Christian and vote for Bill Clinton" slogans floating around when he was running. The Christian right is the one that has "politized" religion and the Christian left has to fight back, even to the point of getting shot it appears.

Religion is a cult. Churches have pictures and statues of Christ. That is wrong. 4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Those pictures and statues are not Christ. Therefore they are idols.

Ministers say you have sin, yet Christ died for man's sin.

You are to give money in the form of a tithe to the church. Noooooo...you are to tithe by giving to poor and of the widow, or others what you have. As in if you are a farmer, you give ten % of your produce or stock to someone. If you take pictures for a living, you give 10% free picture taking...so forth and so on.

Christ tore up a church due to exchanging money.

He also said, not to judge.

Judgement day will come ....mayhaps...and when it does....there will be One Judge.

Get right and open your heart. Do not let some man standing in a pulpit tell you what you need to know.

Ask for your daily bread in prayer and then eat it.

They are no more a cult than YOUR church or any other christian church. Any organized religion, especially christianity, fits the definition of a cult. Just because their beliefs are different than yours doesn't make them bad people. You are actually the sick, hateful nutjob here, when you sit there condemning people with that holier-than-thou attitude. It's hateful, judgmental lunatics like YOU that are the problem in this country. In fact, it's ignorant wackos like you that helped to poison the shooter's head so that he went out and shot up a church. YOU are the sick, extremist nut.

Yes , they do condone gay couples and gay marriage. Isn't it amazing what happens when you teach/preach/push anything outside of God's plan and instruction?

BTW, I don't see you as judging. Stating facts or quoting biblical truths is not judgement like the non-believers and atheists always declare. It seems every time someone gets on a forum and states or quotes a declaration of truth, some atheist, liberal, or Christ-hater screams and declares it as "judging" , and they will claim that you are judging when in fact instead of judging , you're exposing. They get angry. Just watch.

No organized religion offers "hope for salvation". There is no such thing as salvation anyway. We probably just rot in the ground when we die anyway. At least the Unitarians didn't spend all their time spreading hate and telling people gays and liberals are the devil, as I'm sure your idiotic church does.

Those quotes are all from the UUA's own web site so I guess they should be considered "true".
The Compact Oxford English Dictionary of Current English defines "cult" inter alia as "a small religious group regarded as ... imposing excessive control over members". I at least don't think the Unitarian Universalist Church fits that definition of "cult".
To give an apropos example, I myself am a supporter of the death penalty even though the UAA has been on record since 1961 as opposing capital punishment. And I'm allowed to dissent.
They are a cult Their methods are non traditional. The leaders are masters of passive aggression.

Wow, you are one sick freak. So you're basically saying that this church got what it deserved because it supported gay rights? I suppose you think a catholic church deserves to get shot up also because they have priests that molest little boys and then protect them? Sorry psycho, this was not the work of "god", this was the work of some crazed nut, not much different than you apparently, who had a gun. That's it. No "god" involved, you judgmental lunatic.

Most of what you said is correct except for the tithe part. I don't believe the power company that keeps lights on in my biblically based church is going to accept dental work or musical concerts or underwear or cell phones as payment for the electrical service we get.
Jesus disrupted the money exchangers not because of the money but because they were trading within the church. Big difference.
