Part of the problem may be the increased cost to get a license? I understand if you dont' go to classes or something a marriage license costs a lot more now. And now you have to take counseling before you can get divorced?? At my age that's ridiculous. I probably won't get married in TN again because of both.

The reason is that people realize that marriage is not everything because people today cannot help from not cheating and are not able to keep their pants up.

That could be part of the reason for the divorce rate. You don't want to figure out how to marry someone you love "'till death do us part?" It's probably just as well you don't get married again.

Maybe folks are wanting to get married in a "nice, scenic" place and have tired of the ugly views of all that scratching and scrapping of the mountain tops.

Why bother getting married when most of the girls around East Tennessee are having out of wedlock babies.

Think about it a while and past your Sevier County Stupidity or was that a rhetorical question?
On second thought it can't be, you don't even know what "rhetorical" is. You got one of them Dolly and Jackie Parton educations!
You know, if you hate sevier county so much then move the he#$ out of it and stop whining all the time. You are starting to bore me.

If you can get Senator Craig out of the mens room, he can perform gay marriages in Sevier County. He would be able to get the gay tourists into marriage mode and increase the wedding revenue.

You aren't getting to me, I think it's a sad thing that all you want to do is continue to downgrade the place you live. You make yourself look like the moron, not the rest of us for living here.

Interesting point. Wears Valley is a perfect example of a place that was once beautiful.

Sevier County leaders are allowing developers to bulldoze the beauty away and replace it with neon. The few tourists who like the neon will continue to visit but those looking for scenic beauty will possibly go elsewhere. Dont destroy what attracts most tourists.

Maybe the couples were stuck in traffic and decided to forego getting married and head straight for the honeymoon.

Another reason is that the marriage license requirements changing. People over here on vacation from other countries who may have wanted to get married no longer can because the TN government has stipulated they need a K1 visa to do it...which if they (TN govt.) did their homework they would see is a visa you get only if you come here with a pre arranged plan of marrying a US citizen! So Gatlinburg being a vacation spot is no longer attracting those starry eyed foreigners on vacation who decide to get married while there.
