What this officer has been arrested for is very serious and if he's guilty he needs to receive the same punishment us everyday citizens would face. The fact that he is an officer dosn't make all police officers bad. Everyday when they get ready to go on their shifts they put their lives on the line for us. We should not lable all officers "bad cops". Thank you to the Knoxville City, & County officers.

I know this guy real well! He beats women and has for years,I hope this is someone that has finally stood up for themselves! There are lots of girls afraid of him and his position and several of his x's have died, I hope and pray that he is found out and has to pay for all that he has inflicted on others.

Sounds like you know him like I do! A Hooter's cop, preying on real young and inexperienced girls! I know one family that will be very glad that he has been found out, he destroyed their daughter!

Lets get one thing straight, no one on this board probably knows Brian Hoover, nor does anyone know the situation. For all we know, it could be some psycho ex girlfriend who threw herself down the stairs to make it look like he "beat" her. But I don't know the case and neither does anyone else.

Second, Police Officers risk their lives everyday and get paid hardly NOTHING to do it. Can anyone else say that they live their lives to help save others? If it wasn't for them more people who rape, murder, and torture others would be out there. God made these people specifically to help us out. But they get the bad reputation b/c some people speed and get a ticket b/c why? THEY WERE BREAKING THE LAW.

I am not saying every police officer is perfect b/c they are not. But Dear God! Lets sacrifice everyone for something wrong like school lunch ladies- theres too much trans fat in a burrito so when is their turn to be scolded? Or Bankers. If someone goes bankrupt, lets just blame the FDIC or the loan officer who was dumb enough to give them a loan.

Innocent until proven GUILTY. Is he guilty? We don't know yet so stop putting the blame. If he's innocent and the charges are dropped, I hope you people feel good about yourselves.

I think A Lady does know him if she knew that he worked as a Hooter's cop. You kind of sound like you've been around the block with the girls if a psycho ex girlfriend phrase is your MO, because that is also BRIAN's fav phrase! Maybe this is BRIAN on here defending himself cause I'm sure his Daddy bonded him out. Wonder if he was in church Sunday with his parents?

All that HATE must keep you very warm on cold nights. If you are a victim file charges, get an Order of Protection, and testify in court. The OP alone would have been enough to pull him off the streets. But it doesn't seem like you had the fortitude to pursue your as yet unfounded hate speech.
If he is guilty, I'll be one of the most vocal to demand justice. If he is innocent, his accuser must do time.

Wow...I come looking to get some positive comments, but clearly no.

No one asks people to like cops, heck I still don't like cops...but you should respect us and the job that we do.

Lots of people are talking about dirty cops on here. I can assure you that there are so many more clean cops, but you never hear about those cops. We just stand on that wall and do our jobs, and when the spotlight isn't shining, it is better.

When I say respect us, I mean not respecting us for being us, but basically show respect for the job.

I said it earlier, and it sounded a little conceited, I was afraid someone would rip me a new one.

I think all police officers deserve respect. But, when you take the oath to uphold the law it isn't meant for "everyone else." Yes, the majority of officers are law abiding citizens. Unfortunately, it's the "bad apples" that ruin the whole bunch. That isn't fair!! "IF" this officer indeed did what he is accused of I don't understand why he's on paid leave. If I break the law my job doesn't pay me to sit on my butt while someone looks into it. The same rules must apply to everyone. Whether it's right or wrong a police officer is held to greater standards because he/she "punishes" me for breaking the law.
Stess is the number one problem with officers...crime is out-numbering the good. Hopefully the police department has a plan in motion for officers to deal with their stressful job...and if they do then this officer should've used it...instead of beating up his girl-friend..."IF" its true!!! Everyone is innocent until proven guilty!!

Officer, no one here denies the value you have to society. Surely though, you are aware of the continuing scandals at THP. There have been what-half a dozen incidents recorded in the last two-three years? Cocke and Campbell County deputy misconduct...also documented? A jailer at KCSD soliciting murder from an inmate? The former Claiborne County Sheriff that never showed for work? The current Claiborne County Sheriff under indictment or suspicion of sexual assault? The Roane County deputy that was popped for his second DUI? The Loudon/Lenoir officer that was skimming free utility power and resigned? These are all local stories...I could mention the Noble Oklahoma shooting of a small boy while trying to kill a snake(there's a thread here on that subject) or the Atlanta PD's killing of Kathryn Johnson on a bogus search.

You are right, we hear of the bad things regarding law enforcement. There's been a lot and if you are a reasonable person you can't deny that. Perhaps you all should do a better job getting out your message of trust and loyalty, and put an end to these crooked cops yourselves. My 2 cents.

Knoxville Police Officer:

I have great respect for the men who risk their lives on the streets every day.

However, I have to question why the details of this incident have not been released to the public. Do you honestly believe that if he had been an ordinary citizen, his privacy would have been respected? Lack of information leads to rampant speculation.

Are there any other women out there that have been abused by this man? I really don't care whether he is a cop or not. No man should hit a woman.
