I have one question here, IF THE FATHER HAS KNOWN THAT THE CHILD IS MISSING SINCE APRIL 3RD, WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN AN ALERT SOONER????????

I pray they find this little boy, unharmed. I also pray that they can come to a better resolution for all involved. I just don't understand why parents can't work together to do what is best for their child/ren. They need to be able to step outside of themselves and put their own feelings aside, and think ONLY about what is best for the child, think only of what the child NEEDS, which is both their parents, as long as both parents can care for the child/ren in a loving manner and are not abusive in any manner.
Grow up, the only person truly harmed here is the child, this poor little boy who is being taken from his father, and now probably taken from his mother if they are found alive!

I believe the local police makes the decision on how soon the alert is issued. I can almost assure you it was the Sheriff who delayed the alert.

I'm praying for Travis's safe return, and for God to wrap you in his arms. I know there is truly no comfort until your son is home, but I also pray that God brings you comfort.

Do you have more pictures of his mother too? I have family in the tri-state area (KY, OH, IN), and no one has heard of Travis being missing. I would like to try to encourage people to check out your my space too. Maybe someone will see him and/or her.

I agree. If only one parent is trying to do what is right, it doesn't work. If only one parent tries to do what is best for the child/ren, then it can't work. The kids still get hurt.
I really feel for you and hope that you can find your son, safe and unharmed. I hope that you get him back soon, and let him know that what his mother did, she did because she loved him. However twisted it was, however wrong it was, she did it out of love, and she has to learn that it was wrong. That way, he won't grow up hating half of who he is.

To the father - please let us know....

Do you believe the mother will go to friends or do you think she might try to start over on her own? If the answer is she might try to make it on her own, please let us know the following.

How verbal is your son? Is he quite quiet or would he be rather boisterous in a store?

How about his mother. Does ahe dress in any special fashion? Tee shirt and jeans or all black or ??? Is she on the quiet side or is she... a bitof a *itch when out in public.

How does she treat your son? Is she liable to be patient with him or not? Is she likely to threaten or spank? Pull him by the arm is he doesn't listen? or is she more the huggie type who would watch out for his every need -- giving him snacks as they walked through a store?

Finally -- any idea what kind of car she might be in? Anyone she might be with?

NO - I am not thinking I have seen your son. But I think any time a child is missing, it might be very useful for people to have these details.

I will keep an eye out for your son and will pray for all of you.

Rathbone boy, mother found

By Mark Boxley
of The Daily Times Staff

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation ended an Endangered Child Alert Friday after 4-year-old Travis Rathbone was found "healthy and unharmed" with his noncustodial mother in Indiana.

According to a Blount County Sheriff's Office release, Travis and his mother, Vicki L. Rathbone, 37, were found in Terre Haute, Ind., after authorities from the Terre Haute Police Department and the Milwaukee Police Department were able to track Vicki's cell phone usage to a tower in Terre Haute.

The Milwaukee Police Department became involved in the investigation after the BCSO received a tip earlier in the week that the two had been spotted in Milwaukee, according to the release

Vicki Rathbone is accused of taking Travis and not returning him to his custodial father, James Rathbone, 37, Greenback, after a scheduled visitation that was set to end April 3.

The release indicates that Vicki and Travis were located at a relative's house in Terre Haute. Vicki Rathbone's sister, Karole Potter, 46, Louisville, said her sister "called me up and said they found her" on Friday.

When Potter asked Vicki Rathbone where she was, she said she was at their mother's residence in Terre Haute, according to Potter.

Vicki Rathbone was arrested on warrants charging her with custodial interference. But before she was taken into custody, she was able to hold Travis one last time, Potter said. Authorities were "very nice" to Vicki, but she is upset not knowing where Travis was taken, Potter said. "That's more upsetting to her than being arrested."

Travis was taken into the custody of Indiana's Child Protective Services, the BCSO release said. It has not been determined when Vicki Rathbone will be extradited back to Tennessee, or when Travis will be returned to his father, the release said.

A message left for James Rathbone seeking comment was not returned Friday.

Blount County Sheriff James Berrong said he was thankful for the help the BCSO received from other agencies in the search for Travis and Vicki Rathbone.

"Travis was found with the assistance of several law enforcement agencies working together," he said in the release. "The Milwaukee Police Department, as well as the Terre Haute Police Department, were both instrumental in locating Travis and Vicki. We cannot thank then enough for their assistance."
