W T F ? Same ol' bull shit as the school programs. Is every fucking one of these people retarded? Who in Christ's name made McCallum Sweeney the "go to" people of the mega-site world? This group is a JOKE! Go to their web site and look. Then go get some coffee and come back to the desk and look again. Tell me, then, what in the FUCK would lead anyone to believe that this group is not just serving themselves. Dig a little bit more, my old crusty ass did, and look at the I-24 "Megasite" in Hopkinsville, Ky.(50 or so miles from Nashvegas - a pool of nearly 500k potential workers), then go look up Crawford Diamond Megasite in Callahan Florida (1800 acres of McCallum Sweeney bliss.... come on people. It isn't that this location is SOOOOOOOOO Got to have it great place to put it.... Rather its a company who goes around and plays both sides of the fence and sells snake oil to willing "small towns" who need "jobs & taxes". Problem is none of it ever comes to be. The real Taxes come due and moving trucks pull up. Buildings become empty as the former occupants "move on" to the next McCallum Sweeney CERTIFIED site; some other "small town" that needs a tax base and jobs.. who is also located along some rail line or interstate.

What the leaders of this region should do is start talking with smaller based companies that would really come to stay. Or build a big ass plant that will manufacture the Chinese flag. Soon enough they will be flying them all over "our" country.

I hate to admit it, but Thurston Howell is kind of right. You can look and see where the money trail leads and it all leads back to the good ole jefferson county chamber of commerce who are really the ones who are proposing the megasite and have hired a sneaky PR firm to make it all sound very promising and legit. Often what companies like McCallum Sweeney do is offer some under the table incentive for the chamber or other organization to support their "certification process" which in the end nets a huge profit for McCallum Sweeney and probably a little something for whoever gets them the job. You can check all of this out for yourself. It pretty obvious who is bringing these people into our county and what they will gain from it. IT doesn't even matter if we get the megasite off the ground or not, McCallum Sweeney will make all of their money without us even seeing an automotive plant.

All that MeCallum slimey does is certify a site. Butt...they get paid at the front door, in the middle and on the end.Like a night at the Roxberry, but better. They get paid to consult, certify and offer info to prospective industry and guess what? The mega-mistake site is one of many on a list.MeCallum Slimey might recommend our site or they throw a bone in a different direction. No guarantees. But Dandridge and AEC is behind the wagon too, pretending to walking and when nobody's looking, pushing like hell. Damned shame about the property owners but most other people don't even care. The property owners have been called selfish and shortsighted because they won't roll over so the precious darlings of our County will have good jobs. Hell fire almighty, Thursty don't they know that people will drive in from the surrounding Counties to work here? One sixth of the mega-mistake employees would be Jefferson Countians. Thursty and I are wearing our big rubber boots on Monday night. Not because we are farmers without fashion sense but because the Sheite might get deep in that courthouse.

You are just mad because there are a few leaders that have a vision for us. I am glad that you can hide behind a fake name and play games and use bad words to sound big and tough. Well, Mr. Howell, you are what is wrong with this county. Dandridge has pulled the rest of Jefferson County around like dead weight for long enough. It is time that closed minded old men like you go on and take that long nap! Get out of my county if you don't like progress and stay out!

If you totally take the property owners out of the picture and pretend that they all want to sell their land, I still cannot understand how Jefferson County tax payers are going to fund this project. I agree that bringing industry into the area is a good idea but the mega plan has the possibility to banckrupt this County. No one is coming forward with how much this is going to increase property taxes. Someone has to pay the costs of development and the increase to the infrastructure during the years that who ever occupies the megasite gets a tax abatement.Supporters say that we are too dependent on property taxes and need more industry. I agree, but would it not be smarter to bring in smaller industry to build a diverse tax base before taking on the burden of paying for a megasite. As it stands, the adverage property owner will be funding this whole huge, expensive project. Heaven help us if it is not immediatly filled so that the clock can start ticking on the abatement period. Some risk is acceptable but risk this size goes against common sense.

The truth is, the people at the chamber don't care if we actually get the site completed or not, they are simply wanting to get more tax payer money in their pockets and this is a great way of doing it. If the county agrees to spend the initial $500,000+ just to get the site preliminary certified, who are they writing the check to? The consulting group or the EDOC at the chamber?
Thank You

If the megasite is a great idea and they bring so many jobs the only question left to ask is why there are two megasites in Tennessee that are sitting empty?

I have worked with several counties in the state and have never seen a more corrupt chamber of commerce organization. It is alarming how so many tax paying citizens are turning their back to what is going on and allowing Mr. Wagely and Mr. Cason to use tax payer dollars to pay themselves outrageous salaries and basically control a very large portion of tax money that belongs to the people of this county.

With more than a 150 sites in the U.S. already certified and waiting for the next auto plant, what does Jefferson County have to offer to put us at the top of the list? By the way, who certifies these sites for the auto industry? It's not the auto industry and no certification is required, just industrial zoning.

This is just another scam to drain the taxpayers on useless studies contracted to ignorant politicians or their family. My guess it will be some LLC registered in another state and the taxpayers will never know who owns the LLC.
