500??? is that all. I know of at least that just in our county. If they were doing their job right that number would climb to 50,000 overnight.

It looks like our government is working. 500 is a little low but cases like this are hard to get info on. I dont think we have a reward program to provide tips for fraud and I don't want one. The last thing this country needs is a government snitch program. Private insurance company fraud that is a different story turn those scumbags in and get a reward. Any way, good job to government agency fighting this crime.

I work in a medical facility and the problems with most of the people on TennCare is out of control. They come in with no appointments; demand to have pain killer prescriptions; curse and rave in front of what I call the "true paying" patients - those who pay their own insurance premiums or pay with cash. We constantly have to call security on them. Then the next thing you know we get a call from the TennCare office wanting to know what happened - they take the side of the stupid trouble maker and assume the doctor is wrong - go figure that one. If you want to make corrections on TennCare, you need to get new employees at the office(s) in Nashville and the surrounding area. Someone needs to realize that the taxpayers are funding the drugs for these people. Almost all of our TennCare patients demand pain killers for everything that is wrong them. In my opinion the worse thing that has happened in Tennessee is this fraudulent program that allows every Tom, Dick, and Jose to get on it and then use it in a corrupt manner.

I have worked in 2 different emergency rooms and I know that it is out of control and these people usually dont need to be there at all but they come in being rude and demand drugs and pain killers. Usually they are nonemergent and it is almost like the doctor has to do it if they raise heck so there isnt a complaint on him. Doctors feel pressured to give them what they want even if they dont agree. Only a few doctors actually stick to their guns and wont give in. It is sad. Carol is right. They give Tenncare to people who misuse it and dont deserve it or illegals who shouldnt even be here. I thought if it was deemed nonemergent then tenncare would deny payment and make them pay. yah, right. never happens.

i think its a shame that people like that take advantage of healthcare, when the very sick cannot even get insurance. they need to do something about the doctors that is prescribing the medicines in order for them to get rich. those pain pills, and oxycontin is a evil thing. why don't they ban it, the only ones benefitting from it are druggies and people wanting to make money off the system so they won't have to go out and work. if you are elderly, or truly in pain and need them you cannot get them. something has to be done first to the doctors prescribing them, such as that dr. sarlo on ashville highway (knoxville pain clinic) he even acts like a drug dealer, only accepting cash, no insurance, peeking out of his window. i know my ex went there, that is why he is my ex. it is an awful epidemic that needs to be handled one way or another instead of ruining peoples lives and hurting chances for someone who really needs the insurance to not be able to get it because all of the drug dealers are taking advantage.

it is the doctors fault for prescribing the medicine to begin. they do not care about anything except that dollar.

I have personally turned in people who are not only abusing the tn care but food stamps...they do nothing, what's the point? If the goverment would set higher standard laws then our tax money wouldn't being going to pay a woman with five kids food stamps and medical. Too many jobs that offer health care and good wages. But why would they? Work under the table, get child support, food stamps and free health care from the ex and the state.......

You can't hold a candle to what I know about welfare abuse. You want to sit there and scream your injustice of the system but you have no idea what it's like to work in the system.

I would get calls all the time saying... "my neighbor is selling food stamps for crack"
or "buys beer with food stamps" or "the daddy of the children are living in the home and working"
Then I'll go on and ask more questions, who's your neighbor? what's your neighbor's name? what's your neighbor's crack dealer's name?
who's the daddy? what's the daddy's name? where's the daddy work? what's your neighbor's address? uuummmmmm,(drum roll).... I dunno!

You think you give tons of information while state employee sit there and do nothing... not to mention state employees are extremely understaffed!

At the grocery store last Sunday, a healthy looking young (late 20's) couple in front of me at checkout had a basket full of steaks, seafood, premium beer, etc., and while waiting in line were joking about it would last about a week or less. Their total came up to over $125, and after handing over their food stamps, they owed $20.00. Both of them spoke Spanish part of the time and some English (which is the part I understood about running out of food.) There's something drastically wrong with this system. I'd be willing to bet my paycheck that they were also on TennCare. I said something to the cashier about them having food stamps, and she said "I've had people get mad because they can't use them to buy beer and cigarettes." Pitiful.

I hate the idea of one citizen turning in another citizen for a few bucks. If its terrorism thats different. Its bad enough that if the government wants to spy on me they can( I dont think they do it as much as the tin foil hat crowd thinks) But I'm glad they are busting these lowlifes

Cindy Doctors dont get "rich" writing prescriptions for patients as it is they hardly get re-imbursed for taking care of the patients that do have insurance and never get paid for those that dont. I cant think of another profession that give more to society than physicians and gets bashed with the class warfare argument.

The government encourages this entitlement mentality associated with deadbeat parasites who live off welfare, WIC, food stamps & TennCare. People who know how to work the system feel like they can bring in more resources sitting home making babies than they can working in an honest job. When the free lunch program dries up and the welfare crowd realize they have to live responsibly, things might change. But not until.

Ask me how I really feel.

I wa so healthy about a year ago..then boom I had to get a pacemaker,,my heart stopped ..I learned then insurance is a must..I often wonder where would i be if I had no insurance at the time of my operation...I am saddened by so many people shut out of good medical care..yes I work my butt off to pay for my insurance but those who can't work ...the sick the elderly..I don't blame them for doing anything they have to do to get insurance coverage even if it means fraud...get these greedy pokiticians out of office and get someone in there for the people and not just themselves or rich friends
